Firstky, not just people in the banking/tech industry, everyone and their mother will move if you can offer them higher rank and pay. So thats kinda like a no **** sherlock. Secondly, You must be super fking high if you think DBS is on the same level as FAANG, Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan.

Brooo you think damn immaturely, like a frog in the well.
Use your brain and think, people would rather be MD or CEO of even BreadTalk, than go FAANG, Goldman or JP Morgan and be operations or analyst etc
Please la help yourself hehe, use your brain and think. The context matters. Ask any veterans, they will tell you that the brand of the company doesn’t matter if you doing jackshit there

No wonder you stuck at dbs la.
Brother, of course CEO of Breadtalk is better than analyst at FAANG la. These kind of thing no need say de. you retarded or wat
But we are talking about average joe here, if a candidate with 5 years exp in Goldman vs a candidate with 5 years in dbs, you can bet your ass the HR will throw out the thrash dbs resume.
Cope harder if you think otherwise.

So literally your point that you made way earlier is too shallow without context of the role etc.
I think we can agree, paper to paper for the EXACT same role and years of experience, HR would prefer to INTERVIEW the Goldman sach etc. no doubt. Doesn’t mean Goldman sach pays better (only for front office they obviously do. For like HR and whatever else it’s literally like the same, but their bonus is only 1 month)
But in reality that doesn’t happen often right. Going to DBS to do software engineering is way better than going to Goldman sach and stuck at BAU MIS.

Btw I’m not “stuck” in DBS. I’m in Morgan Stanley Ops. That’s why I know the brand matters only if you get good roles. No point go bulge bracket but do ops legit. You can’t progress and you can’t jump anywhere. I rather go like a smaller brand firm but do a better role like AI and ML

But never in my replies did I even talk about pay right? Why in the actual fk you keep telling me about pay?
I am talking about the prestige of the companies themselves (or in dbs’ case, the lack thereof).
Personally, having worked for 13 years, i have always chased prestige over money. Because prestige opens doors, money while important, cant secure that interview for u.
Who the fk cares you are earning 10k in dbs when HR is just going to throw your garbage resume out for a goldman sachs candidate that may only be earning 5k????

I’m a HR from JP Morgan, and you can’t be more wrong…
We don’t just “throw” resumes out based on their company branding. And to be honest, DBS brand in the banking sector is really good in Singapore, no one would throw it away. Both Goldman and DBS would get through resume screening, then it’s down to the individual once it reaches interview rounds.

Why is there so much argument on this forum?
Btw just my 2 cents, to the dude who says he has been working 13 years, then why are you on a fresh grad forum throwing toxicity around o.O
And I don’t think as someone working 13 years, that it is financially wise to pick Goldman sachs for 5k just for prestige, where you still need to interview and jump, when you can just take 10k DBS and live comfortably without even needing to interview out. Prestige can’t feed you bro

Wa 5k for Goldman Sach? That is honestly way lower than expected. Is he at least able to jump companies for a higher pay?
