Thinking about local firm salary of late.
Are Big four salary front loaded? Meaning, for example, A&G is 5.6k, is this front loaded?

a) Career transition into a lawyer is proceeding smoothly so far.

I won a a training contract after two months of gritty, realistic training, my boss admitted that I was thrown somewhat over the deep end and I was treated more like a trainee than an intern.I did my usual share of legal research, assisted in pre-trial conferences, wrote parts of some affidavits, and even used my multidisciplinary skills to produce some spreadsheets and charts to reinforce some of the legal arguments we wanted to use. It was rewarding seeing some of my multi-disciplinary ideas get implemented in a dispute. I'm not too sure if my crazier ideas would have been taken this seriously in a bigger firm.

The only sad thing was that it took 4 months of work before I was able to be offered a contract. The economy for lawyers really sucks right now but I think that things will get better over the next few years.

I believe the 2:1 requirement for foreign grads would have to brought back to ease the glut somehow, let's see if I am right.

For the record I'm not even in AGC or SLS. I'm in private practice. But I'm just irritated by these little kids shooting their mouths off without the faintest idea what they're talking about
Im in my 5th year of practice and well on my way to becoming partner. Clients love me and I am regularly instructed on big files.

Please la.. making partner is never guaranteed especially in this market. Even if u make partner, how long can u stay there? ;-) clients are fickle and money is king, we all know that.

There is no excuse to make racist / disparaging remarks., I feel embarrassed for you.

I am (and would rather be) an associate or senior associate at a big international firm than some partner at a local firm (whether big four or otherwise). Even as a junior, I believe I am already earning more than some of the partners there.

Being appointed as a salaried partner in a local firm is almost guaranteed at around 6 PQE, so this is nothing spectacular. If you are a partner at a big international firm at that experience, that will be a feat.

After 5 years, girls earn only 5.2k while private practitioners would be earning 9-10k.

You sure AGC is good?
You have no idea, and this is pure nonsense. 5.2k may be the basic, but they earn at least or around 6 months of bonus (depending on your grading following the annual appraisal) so in the end it is higher than most private sector pay.

You must be a girl. You want to go serve army and sacrifice 2 years of your life? If yes then you deserve the higher pay. If not, please keep quiet, you can start your career 2 years earlier than guys, so when the guys go into work, the pay would actually even out between guys and girls

What is there to complain?
