Same as all other lawyers. Prove that your experience is relevant and value adding to the job and you will be hired.

There is no need to worry because if you are an outstanding Smu law graduate, you will get all your chances. That said, I would argue that the Smu law system allows some less interested students to get by due to the many non law modules and significant weight of group work in some core law modules. Nus law is more individualistic and so it's harder to game the system with lack of detailed understanding without it showing in your grades over the years. So nus grads naturally are forced to develop better work and research on their own (because they have to do all the final exams and research assignment individually and present them in written form)
Top students will thrive whichever school they chose to go.

I have been offerred law and business at smu with the lee kong chian scholarship. What are my chances of getting a training contract with magic circle firms? I understand from earlier posters that CC does not take in smu grads. Should i apply to the uk instead?

Dude, one step at a time la..
You get in and do well then talk?
From what I know, the best that any SMU grad has gotten is big 4, just saying.

AGC is on a hiring freeze, heard they aren't even recruiting. Better set your sights elsewhere. Probably a social work related job, eg yellow ribbon project, would be a good exit option!

Agree with the other poster that you should take one step at a time. Just go to SMU first and see whether you can even do well enough to get into big 4. Many JC students think v highly of themselves and then the vast majority become disappointed when they see many Bs and Cs. It is not easy to get into big 4.
If you go UK, unless it is Oxford or Cambridge or LSE or UCL, wouldn't be worth it.

Yes, it is not that easy to do well in university/law school.
A lot of highly arrogant RJC kids walked into SMU law thinking they will easily get summa cum laude... turns out many of them could barely even hold onto a Cum laude.
Don't be a joker and get the grades first la...
