My question is: how can I get a overseas legal job with a Singapore law school law degree?

Which country outsides recognises our NUS/SMU/SUSS law degree to practice?
Almost all common law countries recognize local degrees. The catch is that they will nonetheless require you to take "supplementary" papers and fulfill additional requirements. These requirements are different for each country.

HK for instance recognizes SG degrees, but you will have to take, inter alia, HK constitutional law as a top-up subject before you're allowed admittance into the equivalent of Part B of the Bar Examinations (PLC) - which is a one year full time course to be taken in HK. If you haven't been called and haven't practiced, this course is not available for self-study or distance learning. You will then need to complete the relevant training requirements (divided profession) in order to get called to the bar or admitted to the roll of solicitors (usually 2 years).

You would be disappointed to learn that top-paying countries such as HK have even worse hours (although better pay), and you are also judged based on grades. What else do they have to judge you on? Moots, competitions, awards, publications and other things that demonstrate your capability.

Definitely true what you say about the working hours .... but the pay is exponentially higher, which makes the move worth considering.

What about UK and Australia? We recognize their law degrees but do these countries recognize ours?

I was trained at a London magic circle firm, never met anyone from NUS/SMU there.

Hey all, I am a 2nd year associate in a mid-sized firm. I'm kinda short, about 1.72cm, and I guess below-average looking. Been having some thoughts about whether physical appearance is important in the legal profession? Sometimes I feel like people are just not as interested in talking to me or listening to me in general.

Yes looks are important in almost EVERY job unfortunately.. even for guys. If you are 1.80cm and good looking, things will go smoothly for you. That’s life.
