I suggest making a transfer to the revered institution known as King’s College - your chances of getting into CC are much higher than any local law grad.

Hi can I check what the culture in other firms are like? In my present firm the associates hardly talk to each other and we go our separate ways during lunchtime etc. Even within my own team, besides the occasional "team lunch", we don't interact with each other often or try to be friends. Is this normal, or should I be applying for someplace else?
Personally, I prefer it if my colleagues are more friendly and people that I can actually knock back a few drinks with after work. We don't necessarily have to be friends, but it would be nice to engage in chitchat every once in a while after hours over some drinks. Or do I have to go to a smaller firm to experience this?

Good luck in your search. Most people I know would much prefer not to socialise after work - myself included. I already spend over 80% of my waking hours with colleagues as it is, and I cannot imagine spending even more with social inhibitions lowered. Not good for keeping things professional the day after.

Don't even need King's, plenty of people there from delisted unis. Imo NUS/ SMU is really overrated

on ur degree cert the school name is more impt than honours classification
the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE is about as well regarded as the UNIVERSITY OF BOTSWANA as far as the magic circle and us firms are concerned
although of course anyone here is more than welcome to fwd them the last 5 years of qs or shanghai jiaotong rankings, do let us know if you get a reply from them that is worth reading.

What about seeing it this way?
For past six years I have been waking up at 5.30 AM to enter office office.
The earliest I get home is 9pm.
I am not attached and couldn’t afford the time to mingle either.
Money is decent no doubt but I get so stressed up, weight gain and high blood pressure due to irregular sleep and diet.
I get ping non stop at odd hours.
In such a depressing life, why should I even be having lunch with those who caused my misery and anxiety?
Why am I even here in this industry?
Because who else would want to date me into my 30s and the moment men sees me as a lawyer, they get turned off. Plus I am not no longer in my prime in terms of looks. Work is all I have to show off and earn my living.
Would I have done anything differently?
Yes, I should have been kinder to others in my early days. Words spread and bad things spread about me even faster than speed of light and stay even longer about how much a bitch I am.

Its more the case that the MC is overrated. If any Tom Harry Dick from a delisted uni can be trained to be an MC lawyer, then it makes sense that MC accept 2:2s from nus who have a beter command of the law.

This is absolutely normal and you should get used to it. Didn’t you ask around about the culture before joining?
