I asked this question bcos firstly I’m not a troll, secondly people think only girls cry not guys- they are damn wrong, thirdly, lawyers generally have a very dark nature (watch the chrrent channel 8 drama on toggle). Really to show you how bad it is before I sleep at 4am everyday, I have to play any kind of drama on speed 2x (toggle is good u can just fast forward) to sleep. Otherwise I get real and nightmare about work.

actually a lot of my peers have left. i doubt any of my cohort will be staying beyond 5pqe mark.

then the seniors will just get another fresh batch of 1pqe year after year. torture them and make them quit the practice early on. It is a cycle that has been repeating recent years.

I wonder if lawsoc or anyone else knows what’s going on?
Yeah all the senior in my capital markets team leave at 3-4 years mark to go in house

i agree with point 1, altho there are exceptions..

reputation industry? to a certain extent... so long your name not smelly like M Ravi... but even M Ravi as he is, is still surviving

wdym no face cannot survive? you see people like S Y Wong do funny things still surviving no?

Is it that important and prestigious to go to one of the big 4 firms for my tC?
what do you want out of it anyway?

can always go govt sector like AGO, Minlaw IPTO IPOS.

small firm big firm, ultimately you don't need that much money to survive anyway... unless you want to drive supercar, stay private, etc...

only you can decide for yourself...

life is a marathon, not a sprint... altho going to big4 certainly has its perks and advantages against a small firm... but learning curve is much steeper.... a good learning environment is equally important too as compared to salary

I am the original poster which you quoted. Well, it was definitely a breach, but as a trainee, what voice did I have? In my mind, all I wanted was to be retained as an associate by a law firm. I was a Yes man, for fear of losing my position as a trainee in the law firm. If I had reported that to Law society, I would have not only lost my chance of being retained by the insurer, but also I may not even be able to complete my training contract.

Now that I have a left the law firm, technically I could complain to Law Society, but why would I bite the hand that fed me. That would be ungrateful.

Just keep quiet and leave. Its just like any other employment, if you not happy you will just quit, complain for what?

Lastly, being General Counsel, it is not incredible, but possible, I just write here share my job role only. Not trying to showoff or anything. Frankly, my pay of course is lower than those senior lawyers out there with similar PQE, but I am not complaining.
