Do you even know what an "A" performer means in the civil service? If your starting point going there is to take it easy go through motion etc. can get C+ already very lucky. Most likely your grades will hover around C- to C+ for most years.
For a lot of normal non-scholar farmers if can get B to B+ consistently already considered very outstanding... BTW civil service C+ on average is only about 3.5-4mths including aws and every step downwards is -0.5-0.75mths roughly, so I think realistically base on your motives for joining CS, a more realistic picture for bonus is 2.5-3.5mths inc. aws.

Fyi, i was a civil servant for 7yrs, resigned in jan because I had to go overseas for 2months and didnt want to return to the same role. Now i found another job at another ministry so i know what the average performer gets.
I was in 2 Ministries, my PB for first yr was C, subsequently were Bs, once i got an A. I think you dont know what you are talking about. B is 2.5mo of pb, with aws, mid yr, end yr and variable bonuses (sometimes), you get arnd 5mo. I wasnt look at climbing, i still got a B. Have you even been in the CS before, pffft 2.5 to 3.5 includ aws?
My hubb was an A performer last year, his total bonuses amt to 6mo, i suggest you do your calculation properly and not post narrow minded comments.

I think you belong to the older gen who doesn't have a clue about current civil service standards, hahaha what a joker!
To this day and age, scholars are aplenty, and not all farmer grads get C, many are getting As and Bs.
CS here, ur supposed farmer, 3 Bs in a row. 2.5 to 3.5 inc aws? Not even a C performer will end up with that, otherwise you think why we all want to work in CS?

Pls ignore this arrogant joker and take up the ministry offer, i guess if you were previously from CS you will know this is a far better deal in the long run.

Different agencies use different benchmarks and remuneration packages . Various agencies have to pay competitive to attract top talents. Esp true for those with specialized skills e.g. Mindef vs IDA vs MHA etc. So an "A" on one agency could mean "B" or "C+" in another. Scheme and grade also play a big part. For example, I would rather get a "C" in IO than an "A" in "MSO" scheme. At the end of day, what matter most is how relevant you are and how you relate to your peers and bosses.

It depends alot e.g. economy growth, performance, scheme, promotion etc. If you get all the stars aligned in a specific year, you can even get 6 months or more. It happened only twice in my 15 years. Worst was 2 months all in when year end variable was 0 (during SARS years).

Fyi they dont vary that much, and i aldy asked the HR about the different grades and the associated payout, they are the SAME. Not talking at stat boards as i am only familiar with ministries. Some ministries pay more, thus it affects ur basic salary, NOT PB.
Throughout my stay in CS, i have only gotten really bad bonuses in 2009 and 2010 where the year end bonus was 0.5 months. Other that that, i was averaging 5.5 mo a yr with B grades.
C is 1.5, b is 2.5 A can b 2.75 or 3, this is cery standard across all ministries. At the end of the day, u wont be a millionaire in CS but u wont starve.
Thanks all for the advice, i decided to take up offer 2, figured that is the least i could do for my country.
