What reason did u give for leaving?

Did u get a new job in a different industry or function? Or related to your past experience?

I find that employers are always looking for candidates with relevant experience (maybe not so for junior/ entry positions), so it's difficult to venture into a different area even if the candidate is keen.
Of course lah... Jeez they are looking to pay someone to do a job that needs to be done now. Why would they pay someone who has never done the job before just because you want to "venture into a different area"? I am surprise that many PMEs I met who are already middle age and work for many years seem stunned about this simple reality.

Any replies to these questions, other than useless slamming?

I find that employers are always looking for candidates with relevant experience (maybe not so for junior/ entry positions), so it's difficult to venture into a different area even if the candidate is keen.
my situation is quite unique, but i told them almost the truth. u have to justify why u left without a job, and in my case, the interviewers do uds, or at least i make them understand. no referral, but i have no issue giving them references.

i grad later than you and started in a rather broad role. i'm not really changing role, but choosing a specialised role which requires many yrs of exp. like i said, improve urself in the meantime. true, many employers prefer ppl with exp, but there are some that are interested in grooming talents too, which is my case. it's really luck. but u must do something to find luck, luck doesnt find you.

another advice is go to events. the field u're interested in. talk to the industry ppl, share with them what u're gg thru and they are in a better position to help u. otherwise, talk to a recruiter.

if u're still lost, and dont mind lower pay to try out diff roles. try a startup. there are many of them and they are always looking for new bloods.

the key is only u can help urself. u want ppl to give u chance, u have to show something tangible. taking online courses shows that u're keen to pursue this particular field and perhaps thriving during adversity. u have to show at least how much u alr know abt this field and if u can see urself working at this role for years. if u can answer this confidently, ur chance of getting an offer will significantly increase.

hope this helps

Default considering to quit without a job

35yo F, middle mgmt, annual 110k after bonus. 8m in a new industry and company but much conflicts with my boss. Considering to quit in NOV but I have no offers yet.
Too stressful to deal with new boss and being pressed to a corner.

Went for 1 f2f interview lately, looks positive, but its been 3wks still no offer. Just calls from hirer to keep me warm.
New job is with foreign boss, I am worried he is not serious about hiring a local for the job as he would prefer to give the job to professionals from his country. Worse, he may take me interim and once someone from his country comes along, he may drop me and take the cheaper alternative. He is indian india, so is his boss.

I cannot stay in current post too long as I am going out of my mind, current boss is manipulative and evil, I'm not going to say what he did to me while I am here. But he seems hell bent to make me leave on my own accord and with a bad record with hr.

I was initially planning to leave without an offer since I have 3 mths notice, but after coming to this forum, I am afraid that I will be left with no offers Q1 next yr.

Are you single or married? Do you have dependents?

Cos when you are young and self-righteous (most youngsters tend to be in this category) with no other commitments, you feel you can move freely like a fish in the ocean. Once your are bound by chains of life such as age, personal commitments, you will think twice before moving. When I was much younger, whoever piss me off, even the slightest thing in office, I will think of quitting to get into another 'better' company. Now, come to think of it, I realize how many risks I have taken before. Luckily, I am not jobless now as I know better to secure a job first before quitting, all thanks to the reckless, daring me in the past. Been through it and done it. No joke.

I just got call from HR from the co I interviewed, I got it, and they are asking for my expected, I gave a 20% on top of current and argued was becos in my last job before my current, I am paid the same annually, so in my current my annual is effectively the same as my last job.
Though from basic, it tells another story. My previous had good perks/bonus.
Not sure if the HR in new co will buy it, anyway its MNC.
I am going for another F2f interview next week tues. I hope to get good news
