Jobless for almost 3 months. Left my first job after working there for 3 years. Reason being, I want a different job scope.
Went for 3 interviews so far but none suitable.
Regretted quitting without a job because for every interviews, interviewers will ask as if there's something wrong with you.
Anyone facing the same issues as me?

no, cos if u are responsible u wont quit before u find another job. now u have a timer ticking down, the longer u are jobless the worse it gets. interviewers will start to ask questions.

I am surprise in this day & age still got people who are not rich enough to be financial independent dare to quite without getting a job first. Most of the time it's just act rashly want to f* the boss then regret and lick wounds at home after that.

Let's be kind and don't pour oil into fire.... the guy already sort of regretted quitting without a job. Why add on to his misery?

To use a term from our founding father LKY, this is a hard truth. It's better to share it here so others who are thinking of quitting their job rashly can read and think twice.

It is surprising and unfortunate that you quit without securing another job first, and then come to this forum to talk about it. From this forum, you would have already picked up many advise about not quitting without securing an alternative job first.

Such irony. Nevertheless, your case will just add to the other stories about quitting without having another job in the bag.

If you wanted a different job scope, isn't your company able to offer you? If your company is big enough, it might have other job functions to offer you. Should have talked to your boss/ HR.

I have been working 30 years in the same company and have tried my hands in a number of different functions within the company.

i can totally relate, i too quitted and left the same day after fallout with my boss. but i did so after testing the market through random resume spamming and see quite good hit rate. and managed to get 3 offers within 1.5 months before accepting on the one i like.

i guess you have to be sure what you want for your new job. i too struggled for awhile with that. spend time gg thru job portals, click on the different job roles. this is a good time to reflect and find out what you really want. just spam ur resumes, even for jobs u only have slight interest in. then u'll know how relevant your prior exp are to the different roles. take the chance to talk the interviewers about ur past exp and what u want to do. even u dont get the job, u learn abt urself. 3 months 3 interviews too few..

also, it's impt not to waste time rotting at home while jobless. go do free online courses like coursera. take a course in the field u might be interested in, to find out more abt the role and whether u like it or not. if u do, share this with ur interviewers, tell them u put in effort to explore this field and u really like it because of blah blah blah. this will change their impression on u, i personally realise

goodluck!

Hi,
Didn't your new employer ask for referral from your ex company?
What reason did u give for leaving?

Did u get a new job in a different industry or function? Or related to your past experience?

I find that employers are always looking for candidates with relevant experience (maybe not so for junior/ entry positions), so it's difficult to venture into a different area even if the candidate is keen.
