Pls update us when you finally got the offer or rejection letter. Curious to know the timeline too and the HR practices certainly differs across the board.

Anyone have any idea when will HR send a rejection email to the 2nd choice candidate? Is it after the first choice has signed the contract at VITAL or when the first choice has completed his/her medical or when the first choice has reported to work on Day 1? Any HR here can share pls? Thanks many many!

Hypothetical question - What if you apply for a job that you’re overqualified for? Will HR immediately reject? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone! Sharing my experience as this forum was helpful when I was applying to PS.

1) Receive call from HR to attend first interview scheduled one month later

2) Attend interview & did written test

3) 15 days later receive call to attend second interview scheduled a few days later

4) 13 days after second interview receive call to offer job with pay package already calculated

5) Receive email confirmation 2 working days later

6) Vital signing of LOA + medical all completed within same week of email confirmation

P.S all this time my status on career.gov for the job is reflected as ‘submitted’ lol.

Unhappy

Was verbally offered by a ministry 3 weeks ago and submitted for approval by senior management. Till now, not approved and was told by HR that there are cases where it takes 2-3 months.

Problem is i have a decent offer by a pte sector firm which i can start immediately. Entire process was just under 2 weeks. If i take the ministry offer, i am potentially giving up 2-3 months of salary just waiting for ministry job. Kinda ridiculous.

Anybody can share what was the longest they have personally encountered from verbal offer to actual written offer to sign?

I have thought about that. But just thinking its not nice to work a while (it could be the case that ministry gets back next week), then leave. Very bad taste for the company that offered me.

Seriously, does senior management of ministry really need to approve a rather junior role? public sector really need to be more nimble than that. gotta show some respect towards applicants. 2-3 months of lost salary while waiting is no joke.

seems like the recruitment process is getting hard and stricter.. maybe cos they know a lot of people want to work in CS, that y they can relax2 process... but true fact is some ministry do have many layers of approval to go through even for junior post.. need approval for additional headcount, approval for salary, approval for every single thing.. if the approver not around then have to wait till they are back.. I myself also have not get the 2nd interview result which I have went about 4 weeks ago.. I email them this afternoon, but no reply.. I was from ministry working using my diploma, then quit to join pte after got my pte degree, now want to go back CS...
