I have a question pertaining to HR practices and maybe anyone can shed some light on it?

Why would the organisation take 2-3 weeks (or even 4 weeks) to inform applicants of the offer/rejection, especially when the person is already in civil service. I mean, wouldn’t the person have a shorter period to be informed since his security would be duly cleared and less of having any dubious background that will save HR some time?

Means you're not the first choice candidate.

The security clearance is tied to the job post, not whether you are already in the civil service or not. Every time you change a job within the civil service, or when you get promoted to a higher designation, you will have to be re-cleared.

Fresh grad here, offered verbally (i.e. confirm salary/role/HR said cleared with management already) through phone-call with stat board. 2nd upper local uni offered $3500 during probation period.

From experience, how long from that verbal offer call to signing the contract and they won't go back/last minute retract their offer right? Also is the gross salary offered considered good? Taking quite some time...

Anyone have or heard of any experience and/or gotten an offer that you had to wait at least 3-4 weeks? Why did it take HR that long to get back to you when it’s not a peak period (for e.g. new year or CNY).

I got an offer previously within few days after my interview. But in this stage, they haven’t submit to Vital for processing (salary package and etc.). For my first job, I got an offer just a day after the interview. Quite fast. If they really want you (first choice), they will get back to you promptly. Having said that, I have a friend that was offered a job after 6 weeks of his interview. He said he wasn’t even the 2nd choice. So it really depends on the HR practices and different org practices different practices.

I agree, no standard practice.. some HR, small fry post, interview panel until 6 people.. while some HR for high post, only 2-3 people panel.. so I think totally depends, no standard SOP.. just need to wait.. hopefully not those type of HR which simply don't bother to send email even if rejected..
