So the hiring process was quite fast.
But once you are in civil service, you will find that it is very hard to get transfers within the ministry and out of the ministry (to other stat boards). Seems like MOM HR doesn't like to move headcount. Either that or they all knew that ACE officers were all temp and contract, not for long-term hire.
Whatever the reason(s), most of us won't know. But what is reality now is that our contracts have ended and many of the ACE officers are now doing other jobs and coping with life without the comforts of civil service paychecks.
It's damn frustrating to know how our government officers work.
Screw civil service.

It is not hard to transfer around civil/public service but the hiring manager looks out for relevant skillsets.
You ask anyone outside what exactly does ACE do and no one can give you an answer (in fact, most of them won't even know what ACE is). More importantly, how are the skills transferable to the new organization? If you can't even answer this beyond giving generic skills like "stakeholder management" then clearly the hiring manager won't know either.
The hard truth is that ACE was set-up just for COVID and now that the game had ended, there is no more use for it. Contracts starting and ending us is not uncommon for jobs and I don't see why anyone should feel entitled and have the mindset that it ought to last forever.

Does anybody know which Min/ SB does not have medical checks? I had applied for a few places and was rejected after medical check/declaration. I have a suspicion that it is due to my mental illness history (no more follow-ups after more than 3 years) while I was in one of the agencies. I resigned due to feeling burnt out and am looking to explore other opportunities in CS.

Went for interview in Nov, HR just informed me that they're doing reference and background checks, together with the estimated salary range etc. How high are my chances of getting in?
