Shorter or longer contract is better before emplacement? Some told me shorter like 2 years better becos faster get emplacement. longer contract period means more worries, is true?

Noted. To be kept in semi suspense without any confirmation for nearly 2 months must be tough. I believe in their follow-ups they didn't reveal much...

what makes u assume that shorter contract duration auto mean the SB/ministry will emplace u?
u know abt the thing of headcount right?
if there's no available headcount for the SB/Ministry for u, u think still and want to emplace u?
3 year FT contract + giving u full range of the full time benefits, mid year PB etc wat knots
i would say take it man
i have been thrgh instances (during covid time) where the SB didn't emplace me after 3 contracts (1 year + 1 year + 2 years for final extension) and i just jitao work till last day then go after expiry
fixed term contract with no PB
13 mth contract deem as completion bonus terminology wise

yeap
the follow-ups tbh don't really yield much as G50 screening is clouded in mystery
the occasional check-ins (prolly once a fortnight or so), at least the HR POC bother to response on the interim replies
and i hold the simple minded mantra
ie so long as the outcome of interview hasn't reach my inbox, i take it as its still alive
'cause I 2nd guess that the outcome will by & large hinge on the g50 screening outcome
if i kena buang at the screening phase, the hiring organisation can outright not to offer
(even if they didn't explicitly tell me, i more or less can guess it's due to the g50 that buang the whole thing...which of course one can whine and pity self because it's like pretty much at the hardest part of the hiring huddle already to buang)

reading your posts makes me feel im in a similar if not same situation as u.
i was also offered 1 + 1 year contract by SB. if my 1st year performance is decent, then will be offered extension for 2nd year. i havent start work for them yet.
so the thing is this, during interview, they told me got chance to be emplaced on perm scheme. what's the probability like? nobody knows.
how to see if they have available headcount or not? during my interview got alot of candidates n i was the lucky one chosen. the job keeps getting re-posted on CAG.

they can promise until birds can fly to mars.
but who can guarantee got chance for emplacement?
from the time u take up extension till the time the extension gonna run out, things may jolly well freeze headcount or hiring exercise
jitao candidate can tio stun
ah, from your closing sentence, its CAG?
if the job keep re-posted, likely mean their headcount plans may remain fluid whh u can intepret it tht dept possibly expanding job scope so need more manpower?
alternatively it can also mean the workplace got problem retaining staff and ppl exiting
therefore need to hire fresh blood
dont leave things to chance
rather than cut off access from income source, i would rather take up the full time contract to chiam see tong first in the interim
read fine print on the contract to see if u r eligible for the big ticket items ie PB, mid year civil service/public service wide bonus etc
at this stage of the career, assuming u not a mid-career pax?
and assuming the leave entitlement pretty much the same across the public service, don't go agst the pay check principle
in meantime use the Chiam See Tong moment to keep a lookout
dont assume they will emplace u for sure
i think no harm going for a few chats here and there with other places as a back-up in case things buang too

don't think they can disclose the info either
OSA mah
but agaration wise likely will need to be screened by ISD, MSD and CRO minimally
and not sure if they do any webprowling to see what the candidate may have posted on social media etc????

Does anybody know the certain timeline for the offer? Context: Went for an interview on 26 April, and received an email that the panel was keen to proceed with my application on 23 May. Until today, I have not heard anything from them despite sending them a chaser for updates. FYI, the offer will be based on 1-year contract for the appointment of new officers in the ministry. Thanks.
