It wouldn't if we are talking about basic salary without commission.
The assumption is merely to put numbers what people may think is a good progression/increment is.

You guys (above) seriously need to start thinking more and reading properly. Seriously.
I am not an accountant. My purpose of citing a big 4 salary/increment is due to the transparency of its salary. This would allow people (like me) to find out what a fair yearly increment is.
If I do not state the assumption, you guys would say oh, it isn'ta fair comparison/accountants earn peanuts due to OT. So in order to remove such comments I added the assumptions.

Big 4 and no OT doesn't go together. It's impossible. the reason why most people stay only a few years in the big 4 is because the hours are long and they burnout.
So that assumption is not valid in the 1st place, and that's the only comment.
if you are not even in accounting and doesn't do OT why benchmark against the big 4?
So what the salary is transparent?
It's like a bus driver benchmarking against a pilot?
You need to think more .............
