So what would be the career path that you would take if lets say you wish to step into recruitment? What starting jobs would be better? If you have a private deg in hrm as well?

Just took up a L&D exe position in mnc, its an admin position and i wonder if there is any progression? Will just be handling scheduling of training programs for employees and trainers, managing calender report, ,claiming grants etc. I have alr signed the contract and jus found out from one of the replies that hr admin lookalike positions should be avoided. Am i doomed ? Im 25.

Graduated last yr and entered into an empty shell company as a Hr and admin exe. Learnt general hr duties such as maintaining employees leave record and personal info, insurance claims, recruitment local and oversea, org chart, tax, full onboarding to exit interviews, memos etc and Lots of admin work such as procurement, recept duties etc. 6mnths exp only. So i guess i am still a fresh grad in the eyes of hiring managers... haha. Just wondering if this L&D position can bring me a step further into the HR field? Or is this a wrong path?

The current company told me that i can job rotate and move to various HR dept after some time if i am doing well in there.

I have 1 more job option (hr exe) from a large F&B industry. I think there will be daily OTs for this position.

I notice a lot of big cannon here about being a specialist in big mnc or consultancy causing a lot of misinformation for newbies. Let me add some perspective for someone who has worked in HR for 12 years -

1) 9 out of 10 HR jobs are general type like training coordination, payroll, recruitment, employee welfare, internal coms etc.

2) Most HR jobs have average pay and career progression just like any other support department.

3) You take up a HR job because you like dealing with people and ok with doing admin paperwork. DO NOT join HR thinking you are going to be the next superstar making 2-3 hundred grand a year.

4) It is true that the real specialist in top MNC / consultancy can make loads, but for the majority of us it is just a job to feed the family to get by.

5) If you need to ask how to be a specialist to make top dollar then it is not for you. Be humble and realistic in what a typical HR job & pay is about or go find some other thing you like.

u sound more like frog in the well trying to act expert. just because u lack ambition and happy with doing a mediocre job doesnt mean those who aim high & willing to work hard are unrealistic & big cannon

stop being so judgmental
