But it's not going to be applicable for anyone else here.

Just purely exceeding KRA in the year of promotion, will not get you a B, I can say this with 100% certainty.
When exceeding KRA is not enough to get good appraisal. Makes people think about 'meritorcracy' in civil service.

Better to straddle different departments and/or committees reporting to multiple HODs?

But if you think about it, different schools, different situations, different contexts, will also give rise to different 'standards' in meritocracy. You must know that KRAs although for each subgrade, has the criteria, but it still boils down to how the SLs or panel determines what you have done, as exceeding or meeting KRAs.

In a newly setup/merged school, about to merged school, or small school, the number of staff there will be lesser, since number of classes are lesser. The amount of planning and consideration to be done in terms of work-wise, will be lesser than that of the big schools. So what about those in big schools who do more, but is ranked to their peers and they do not get as good a grade as those in the other smaller schools I mentioned above?

Actually this kind of debate has been ongoing for many years already. I've seen many different people talk about them, come and go etc, disgruntled with the system.

I wouldn't say the system is perfect, so it's good to talk about all these and hope that one day the system can be improved. But I will still say that it is meritocratic enough as compared to some European countries where they allow unions to dictate teacher salary etc, and that really boils down to a lot of networking and stuff, and it's also not very transparent.

Anybody can shed light on how ranking works for staff seconded to independent schools?

Don't need to purposely go and do it. If you are naturally outstanding, it will show in the normal interactions. Like even in committees or project teams (which already allows you to work with different dept or diff KPs), and if you are good, it's very hard for whoever who wants to shoot you down, to shoot you down. Because the panel will have people speaking up for you.

Wonder if anyone has consulted WITH HR for advice on this matter since it's quite silly that we are promoted for better performance but our peers are earning more than us now course of the poor timing.
But is your pay 6.1k in year 3? Because the other dude posted 3 years, GEO4, 6.1k

It is highly unlikely. Unless mid careeer switch.

Nope. It was 5.7k in my 4th year (year of promotion to geo4). I wonder if the person meant 3 years of experience and is currently in their 4th year, which could be possible. But the pay is really very much on the high side.

Hi OP of this post here. Only just checked for replies. For context, I received a D grade in 2020 during my first year of clearing practicum. Reply here mentioned that I will not get that year's deposit.

However, I've heard that 1st year after practicum does not qualify for CONNECT as it is "not a full year" (only cleared practicum in March). Is this true? Does this mean that I did not lose out on any payments? My CONNECT statements show deposits for 2021 and 2022, but not 2020, not sure if this was supposed to be or due to my D grade.

Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
