When you mean management as a teacher - could you elaborate on this?

Like HOD?

Most SH and HoD roles are redundant in MOE, mostly creating non-teaching work for the sake of their portfolio.

The non-teaching work trickles down from the rot on top. Every Workplan Seminar chut new pattern. Every year chut new national PD direction. Everytime something happen chut new directive (teacher-counsellors, mental health buddy, bla bla). Are all these created by SH and HOD level? They're created by people who are so far removed from the reality on the ground.

Yes it's true that the way some SH and HOD interpret their KRAs leads to a big mess in schools, but I would say they hardly 'create' any of this nonsense.

The focus on holistic education is really driving all the extra work created

You are apparently one of those oblivious commenters who are not in the teaching fraternity, but making senseless comments and asking obvious questions on this forum. Like duh?

By now you should realize that teach should not be confined to academics, but rather soft skills and character building as well. Coaching students to get distinctions in national exams does not imply that the child can survive the test of life ahead.

Not denying this, but it's not as if much of the larger Singaporean society does, either.

Yes. And thanks for being one of the many thousands adding to a teachers workload.

Let’s be real. That should be the parents job, not the teachers. We don’t need to Chu pattern zhui zhui as long as the kid can score their As, while as parents we focus on the character building part.
