The schools I've been in allow you to indicate your preferences, with the caveat that final deployment will be based on school needs.

Complain to MOE about… what exactly? Not being assigned your preferred roles because of demand supply? And there are people who genuinely think this is a valid complaint?

Is this really the mindset of the workforce today?

Complain to MOE that the needs and preferences of teachers are not taken into consideration and insufficient support and assistance in developing our strengths and passions as educators of our young talents. Is this, to you, not a valid escalation to be made known to the ministry??

May be because you’re a F? M may receive a few hundreds more which tips the scale closer to 6?

How much bonus on average per year?

just because your desired CCA choice is not given to you does not mean that the school did not consider it. the fact that you’re given the ‘voice’ to express your preference is an indication that school ‘considered’ your preference. (unfortunately) the school’s needs takes precedence over your personal desires/wants.

ask yourself, is it (mathematically) possible for the school to cater to the preferences of all teachers? in your class, do you allow all your students to choose their own group members all the time? if you dont give in to your students’ wants, wouldnt you kill their passion for learning?

welcome to the working world, BT

5 years as in ever since your trained permanent posting? Or inclusive of contract (untrained) + NIE?

Not OP here, but just sharing something to think about.

I know of a young teacher who didn't like the CCA assigned. Tried giving feedback to HOD CCA before, but the truth is to them, words from a BT carry very little weight. This BT raised concerns to the current CCA OIC instead.

This BT also went further to prove it by performing below average for CCA activities too (intentionally doing duties slowly and poorly, not volunteering for anything and knocking off right on time rather than checking if all CCA stuff has been settled). The CCA OIC finally told the HOD CCA to transfer that person somewhere else and the HOD CCA heeded it immediately.

By the way, that teacher wasn't penalised or graded poorly in any way. It was just concluded as "not being the right fit".

Preferences? Feedback? I dunno if those really work for younger teachers in the first place. Perhaps sometimes to really prove a point, actions speak louder than words haha. So to the younger people, be flexible, but be daring to fight for what you want too.

Intentionally doing substandard work is shortchanging students. If the HOD CCA is able to justify the deployment based on a pressing organisational need, and able to give examples of support and training provided to the BT to facilitate adjustment and competency building, but the BT performs his duties poorly out of spite for the deployment, then I wouldn't hesitate to penalise the BT on the grounds of poor organisational awareness and shortchanging the learning of students.

I can understand where you're coming from and I do support your response towards this. Thankfully the students weren't exactly shortchanged since other teachers in the CCA made up for the duties and roles of that particular teacher. On that note, it wasn't very fair towards the other teachers.

However, if we do look at the big picture, the supposedly relaxing, slack or attractive CCAs are usually hogged by the old or older teachers who refuse to budge, while the new or younger ones get thrown into the sports or UGs simply because they are "younger and more energetic".

What's worse is that once they're in a UG, it's very unlikely for them to be able to transfer to non UG CCAs since they are already "trained".

These factors really leave the younger teachers with very few choices. Is that really fair to them then?

How cute. A Geo3 who thinks that they do the most among teachers. A bit delusional you know.
