You can always choose the more low profile and relaxing CCAs and committees

Those without degrees, with only diploma in education (mostly in primary school), are paid based on their A levels or Diploma. A level-holders start from around $1.6k. After completing diploma in education, around $1.8k.
Thanks for sharing such an insightful piece of info! Must say I am quite shock that MOE teachers could be earning < 3k if they are non-honours or diploma grad?! Dun they deserve a respectable salary given they are in teaching? That being said, these teachers should be few and far between I believe? Most would at least have a degree drawing 3.8-4k fresh out of NIE?

Yes, it's Singapore employer culture to make it such that even if you are doing the same job, if you spent fewer years in school, you must make up for it by drawing a much lower salary for many extra years before having a chance to be on par with those who spent more years in school. Even if those extra years don't contribute to your job skills and competencies (e.g. getting a CS1-related Master's degree then going to teach in Primary school).

It’s frankly quite scary how many scholars these days are being poached by private sector or other parts of the public sector.

And they’re the good ones who actually are quite decent in the classroom.

This might be true in the first few years. But as scholars get put on the leadership track sooner, they end up forgoing teaching duties for admin or management duties. Most of the scholars I've seen only do the bare minimum the their classroom.

Is there really a "choice"?

Wouldn't most people (especially the younger/new teachers) be assigned one and told that it's due to "school needs"?

they are not the only ones getting poached... i know of a HOD who suddenly resigned early this year to jump to another company which could match the total compensation of a HOD...didnt even bother waiting for adjustment or connect plan lol

I'm curious… Since when were (even highly skilled) teachers in demand? Where are these people hopping off to?

Can appeal/request for the most attractive and appealing CCAs? If not, complain to MOE?
