I finished pract last year March.
Some of my older colleagues say the increment from GEO2 to GEO3 will be quite high like $500 or something but I suspect that might not be the case esp if I’m near the ceiling of GEO2 although I know the range will change. guess I won’t know until 1 Apr.

Means Oct is for NS promotion la right? Then do you know how come other lady teachers only promoted in October and not April?

And what are the implications for promoting in Oct?
Got so upset over it, I was pulled to do department work during practicum already while the others focused on their prac. But yet, I’m in this situation...

I understand how you feel. I did more on my practicum year compared to others too so I was also disappointed when I found out I was not getting promoted with the others who I entered the school with. I heard it really depends on your RO / KP etc. Got some other teacher in my department and I see she so slack, misses meetings and workshops and when she actually is in there she sleeping sia. She was also absent so many days last year but still promoted ahead of me. She wayang la so maybe people up there like her so during ranking they confirm fight for her like siao.
So demotivated. Did all those hard work for what.

Hi all. Just got news that I'll be promoted to GEO 4 come April. Anyone knows what the increment is like from GEO 3 to GEO 4?
And anyone knows whether I can actually decline a promotion to GEO 4? If I find that the increment doesn't match the extra crap that I'll be dealing with, then I won't want the promotion.

If you are not near the ceiling of geo 3, then it's $500. Else will be much lower.
Yes you can decline but geo 3 ceiling is $5600+ vs geo 4 ceiling $7200+

I'm worse, GEO 3 since 2015 April. Last raise was in 2019 for $10.47.
Now hang already.
The system is messed up. Just do your work, go home and sleep. Remedials do minimal. Extra work as those got more raise to do.
Go home find other ways to build passive income, no need rely on your RO or sch for their pittance amount of $

What are you talking about? Even if you had zero merit increment, shouldn't you have annual increment at least? Annual increment itself shouldn't be $10.47 right?

Yea I think this is true. My school's new male teachers also all Oct promotion. There were a few female teachers promoted in Oct also instead of April (one is ahead of her batch though. None of her batchmates are promoted yet). I think maybe they come in 6-month blocks where the cut-off for recommendation is on a certain date. Then once they clear a batch of promotees, they then decide on the next batch. So maybe it really has got to do with CEP, age etc. Anyway the delay is not big. Just 6 months. To people at the lower grades it may seem very long. But there are people stuck at GEO 3 or GEO 4 for more than 5 years. You will see that this 6 months is nothing.

I’m a PGDE grad so no tp2 for me. Just 1 practicum which I finished in March 2020. Plus I got a distinction for practicum and was awarded C+ for Pb grade. I’m level rep this year. And the school does think I’ve been doing well.
So I think the “only reason” may not answer why I wasn’t promoted. Don’t know if it’s HR who made the decision... but I don’t know based one what. Because I’m a NSman

Thanks for the reply!
Hmmm. My current pay is 4695. Ceiling is 5616. Considered not near right?
The ceilings between 3 and 4 really has a big difference. But I'm kinda at peace with my current pay. Even if it's pretty peanuts. So I don't mind continuing with that salary point for years to come. I just wanna continue with whatever current load I have. And focus on other aspects of my life. At this ripe age of 40, work and climbing up the corporate is definitely low priority.
I would like to know what kinda repercussions there are if I do decline the promotion. Will that be a basis to get dismissed/first to get retrenched? Given more responsibilities out of spite?
Appreciate to hear from someone who has declined a promotion before.
