So demotivated. Did all those hard work for what.

Same feeling. Worked harder than the rest and was not promoted. It’s funny because we have the same RO and the other promotees have had complaints about them before

Now hang already.
The system is messed up. Just do your work, go home and sleep. Remedials do minimal. Extra work as those got more raise to do.
Go home find other ways to build passive income, no need rely on your RO or sch for their pittance amount of $

I'm worse. GEO 3 since 2013 (then was still known as the 1a1 1a2 2a1 2a2 grading system). 8 years liao, male somemore.
Even all my female colleagues who joined the same year as me all promoted. My grades and theirs are about the same. They even took before log term leave or maternity leave etc, whereas i hardly take mc. One of them even had c- grade before, whereas i didnt have c- before.
so you are right. The system is messed up. its just a matter of how much the p and the middle management likes u.
And i fully agree with u on building passive income and doing minimal for the job. When the passive income is more than the pay that moe is giving for geo3, can leave this job anytime for good.

no need to think so much abt how much u do.
the question u need to ask yourself is, do u think the p and the middle management likes u a lot?
if no, u work until u die also won't get promoted.

i'm worse. stuck at geo3 since 8 years ago. Then it was still the old grading system.
I'm male somemore. All my female colleagues (same batch n the later batch) all promoted past few years n this year liao. one of them even had c- before while i didnt have. A couple of them took long leave n maternity before, while i hardly take mc, they also promoted faster than me.
Fully agree with u on the system is messed up part.
I'm also doing minimal now n focused on building passive income. When my passive income is enough, i can quit this shitty job for good.

So I think the “only reason” may not answer why I wasn’t promoted. Don’t know if it’s HR who made the decision... but I don’t know based one what. Because I’m a NSman

Hi. I am in a similar batch as you. I only just got notified yesterday about my promotion in October. A few of my friends also have not been notified but it's because their school has not notified any October promotees yet. It's a batch promotion so I think no reason you won't get promoted.
I think different schools inform at different timings. Have you already checked if for your school, the October batch of promotees are informed? Because for all you know they may just inform you next monday.

The ceilings between 3 and 4 really has a big difference. But I'm kinda at peace with my current pay. Even if it's pretty peanuts. So I don't mind continuing with that salary point for years to come. I just wanna continue with whatever current load I have. And focus on other aspects of my life. At this ripe age of 40, work and climbing up the corporate is definitely low priority.
I would like to know what kinda repercussions there are if I do decline the promotion. Will that be a basis to get dismissed/first to get retrenched? Given more responsibilities out of spite?
Appreciate to hear from someone who has declined a promotion before.

Yes not near. It's average. So should be able to get near $500 increment. My colleague who got the same promotion GEO 3 to GEO 4 last year, was at around 5.1k already so his increment from being promoted was not $500, but because he was an A-grader so it still sort of balances up since the merit increment is high.

Thanks for replying! My friend who was from the degree programme was told she will be promoted in October. I was informed I just got confirmation to GEO2 after the one year of service upon finishing NIE.
Are you the only one from our batch in your current school? Were the rest promoted? Seems like the Degree programme people are promoted first in my school.

Any ideas or tips for generating passive income?

Buy blue chips stocks using your bonus and collect dividends. I earned quite a bit because I managed to buy some good stocks at the start of the covid 19 situation. Made 20k over less than a year - definitely a better deal than slogging out in school and getting no recognition whatsoever
