Usually, the norm is 3 years of experience and you get a cohort promotion to Geo 3. Typical route unless you are a high flyer and get promoted faster. HR will take years of experience into account, such as 2 years of NS or any relevant work experience. That is why it is normal for mid career EO's with 3 years or more work experience to be promoted to Geo 3 immediately after NIE or guys to be promoted after 1 year because 2 year NS + 1 year working =3 years experience

Same here didnt get my promotion despite serving NS and stuck with GEO2 grade for close to 2 years, getting a Performance grade C+ on my NIE grad year and doing more than what my batchmates is doing.=(
Hear say that RO need to send in appraisal to HR to recommend promotion. Anyone here who is a RO know about this?

There is no more norm.
Could be a good or bad thing depending on how the school handles promotion recommendations.

I’m trying to understand why I was not promoted, especially when some teachers who are already at GEO 3 and above do not seem to perform well in teaching or classroom management, yet draw a higher salary even though their lessons do not appear to add value to students. This is particularly confusing given that the Key Assessment Rubrics (KAR) for both GEO 2 and GEO 3 are the same.
Would appreciate insights on how the promotion process works. Thank you!

Two things:
- make sure that you are very clear about why you think you have strong performance in T&L. Not necessarily doubting you (I don't even know you), but just a reminder to ensure that your glowing self-evaluation is grounded in strong content, pedagogy and assessment.
- keep the comments about other teachers to yourself. Not everyone can take such comments well, especially coming from a young, fresh teacher. And some of these people could have a say in your performance appraisal and promotion recommendations.

Observed the same too. You’re not alone. Hopefully next year will be our turn else can start exploring other options since bond has ended. From what I hear from RO and SL, promotion is dependent on HR side. They claimed they have no say in it but I don’t know how true is it.

Its funny how its ok for teachers to come here and talk **** about KPs - saying things like how come such a person can become SH/HOD and other roles. Then make comments about how they are lousy and so on.
But when someone comes in and asks how come lousy people can become teachers, the teachers on here get very defensive.
Can dish out but cannot take. Lol

As much as it is dependent on HR side, it's the school ranking panel that decide the PG and CEP

This here is excellent and kind advice, especially for younger officers.
