March Holidays (1 week)
June Holidays (1 month)
Sep Holidays (1 week)
End of year Holidays (2 months)
Even when you assume that teachers only get half of the holidays (in reality it might be more), teachers have around 50-55 days of leave. Which other job have so many days of annual leave?

You are very optimistic, and to put it crudely, also clueless, just like majority of the public who are not MOE teachers.
What you stated are official holidays for STUDENTS.
For teachers:
March Hols - Be on standby, or confirmed working for 2-3 days for school workshops/CCA. Probably w weekdays of protected holidays.
June Hols - Be on standby, or confirmed working for 1st and 4th week for school workshops/CCA. Confirmed 10 weekdays (2nd and 3rd weeks) of protected holidays. May have a few more weekdays free if no work during standby.
Sep Hols - Be on standby, or confirmed working for 2-3 days for school workshops/CCA. Probably w weekdays of protected holidays.
End of Year - Be on standby, or confirmed working for first and last week for school workshops/CCA/staff meetings. Confirmed 15 weekdays of protected holidays. May have a few more weekdays free if no work during standby.
Do not forget that for March, June and Sep, many teachers also need to spend a lot of time at home/in school setting papers. And I'm sick and tired of explaining to my non-teacher friends that I can't "just anyhow set questions for tests and exams", or throw in nonsensical distractors like "chicken nuggets" for Physics MCQs.
The nicest picture you can paint, or nicest story you can tell, is that MOE teachers can probably have near 3 days of leave in a year. But most of them will not be resting or enjoying for the whole period since there is ALWAYS work to prepare for.
Also, there is no choice for when to use these annual leave. In a sense, they are forced. During COVID when many companies allowed employees to encash or bring forward to next year, there was no such option for teachers.
Lastly, since you're so envious and jealous about it, why not come and join MOE immediately? Or did you not make it to the interviews or pass them in the end?

Typical protected vacation time for teachers:
March - 2 working days
June - 10 working days
Sep - 2 working days, or zero for schools with a heavier emphasis on academic support for grad cohorts etc
December - 15-20 working days
So yes, it's a pretty decent amount of protected time, but it's a far cry from 50-55, and you never get to travel off-peak any further than SE Asia on weekends.
Note that EOY holidays are not 2 months. Programmes for students continue at full swing - CCAs, lessons for Sec 3, sometimes P5. EOY review and planning for the next year is in full swing as well - the work can be pretty intense even though it may start at 8am rather than 7.30am. Also, did you forget Primary schools that only end in mid-November?

My man here thinks the whole school staff goes on vacation on the last day of school for the kids, and then just shows up on 2 Jan the following year with everything ready to go. No planning and preparatory work needed.

FLP between early to mid year. FHQ around the end of the year.
None of these will come as a surprise. e.g. certain people will get to choose their FHQ posting year. But generally if you are earmarked for hi-po things, your RO and SLs will engage you regularly for career development conversations. Of course they won't tell you your exact CEP/LP, but you will know from the type of conversations they have with you that you are being groomed for a certain type of career trajectory.

Thank you. And these info will come to the officer via the school/RO?
