Are you the only one from our batch in your current school? Were the rest promoted? Seems like the Degree programme people are promoted first in my school.

Wait you mean your friend from the degree programme who graduated in the same year as us got promoted this Oct 2021? That seems quite unlikely. Unless she graduated in 2019. Usually only males with NS gets promoted the following year after entering school, because of the added Years-in-Civil Service. My school all the males (2 other + me) were informed of our Oct 2021 promotion. There were a few other PGDE/BA females who got posted to school in 2019 May/June (after finishing practicum), that will be promoting together with us in Oct.

But basically the females in my PGDE batch have not been promoted yet. Which is expected given that the lag time is usually 1 year behind as they have no accumulated Years in Civil Service

The ceilings between 3 and 4 really has a big difference. But I'm kinda at peace with my current pay. Even if it's pretty peanuts. So I don't mind continuing with that salary point for years to come. I just wanna continue with whatever current load I have. And focus on other aspects of my life. At this ripe age of 40, work and climbing up the corporate is definitely low priority.

I would like to know what kinda repercussions there are if I do decline the promotion. Will that be a basis to get dismissed/first to get retrenched? Given more responsibilities out of spite?

Appreciate to hear from someone who has declined a promotion before.

Sorry to hijack this thread but if near ceiling then merit increment is how much? Say my current pay at geo 3 is 5500 and ceiling is 5616...what would my increment be like now that i am a 4?

meeit increment will be 116 and promo increment will be additional amt unknown to me

Hi forum readers, I would like to seek your advice on something regarding being in MOE.

Background:
- Male

- Dec 2016 joined service and started as the first batch of the 16mths PGDE program

- Completed practicum in Term 1 2018, officially trained and confirmed in service in Term 2 2018.

Performance Grade:
2019: C(was promoted to GEO 3 in april 2019)
2020: B
Recent 2021: A (notified that I am promoted to GEO 4 this april 2021)

Recently I was notified that I was promoted as GEO 4 coming April this year. And it really caught me by surprised because I know I am indeed very very lucky to be promoted after seeing some of my peers and through the forum thread.

I have been looking at this post regularly and I would consider myself really fortunate in terms of having a supportive RO and school leaders. There is nothing I can complain about and I am grateful for the opportunity given to helm projects and as well as sharpening my T&L skills through good mentors.

Recently, I came to know about a program called Future Leaders Program (FLP) which some scholars were "automatically" emplaced and I would like to know, whether, and how will HR select people to be in FLP apart from scholars?

Like everyone else, I do my very best, and my focus has always been leveling my students and simply be with them. At the same time, I also place great emphasis on my own PD and hence I am wondering, i am interested in being in FLP, but have no idea how to go about doing it? I have previously spoken to my RO about it, and it was mentioned it is centrally managed by HR.

As a young officer, I have tried to do my best and still have the burning passion to excel strive for the best that I can do here in the ministry, and I think my grades do show to some extent the value of work i am doing - of course with the support of good mentors and RO.

Just wondering, would it help to email HR to find out more? I am currently posted to HQ and I know, with this recent promotion to GEO 4, the competition is way higher and as hard as I can try, I know my performance grade may not be as good given the level of competition that I have read about through the forum.

Could I get some advice on this?

I got notified on Friday that I will be promoted to GEO 4 this April. Here are some details
Completed NS
2nd Upper BA (Ed)
Entered service in 2017 Jun

My grades since entering service:

2018: C (promoted to GEO 3 in Oct)
2019: C
2020: B
2021: A (promoted to GEO 4)

My colleague said I am faster than the 'normal' group of people. Is that true? Also, anyone can share what is the step-up between GEO 3 to GEO 4 in terms of responsibilities and expectations, and how to progress upwards to GEO 5?

Need some explaination on this. I was told that i am promoted but only in Oct mea while my colleague was told the same thing but his promotion is in April.

1. So is my promotion confirm?
2. Why the two different months?
3. Will i be shortchange if i get promoted later?
4. Will i be getting the increments in 2021 instead?

So curious abour this cant seem to find the answer online.

I am a Geo 1,recently told about promotion to GEO2. Super delighted! But then i found out that the tcrs that entered the same batch as me were promoted too but in April. Mean while mine is in October. I am a lady. Heard that october promotion is for ns batch. Does this mean i am doin slight worse that my othr friends that are promoted in April? ):

Will october promotees be announce together with the april promotees to the school? I was told that i am a oct promotee. Was just wondering if they will annoucr it next mth?

I'm also October promotee. Female. My RO said promote in April or Oct also no difference. The salary adjustment related to promotion only comes in Oct so everyone who is promoted in that year (apr or oct) is actually the same. Just done in different batches or have to calculate YIS etc then April maybe some haven't reach the YIS.

Can anyone verify this statement? Those who have been promoted before in April can help to verify if the increment (not annual increment) only comes in at October?

Meanwhile, I didn't receive any news of promotion...So I guess it's another year of waiting...Hopefully I'll get mine next year haiz
