the qns here on FLO prove my thesis that many teachers live in a cacoon n know little abt how the world out there or even the broader public service works … sigh

If you are an officer that is not part of any "auto-FLP" scholarship scheme, then being emplaced on FLP several years into service is your first solid indication that your CEP is relatively high.

The secrecy surrounding CEP makes go-getters uncomfortable.

Provides you extra projects, assignments and stretch appointments. These serve as a stage for you to demonstrate your ability to contribute at a higher level, which is necessary for accelerated advancement.

In order to be found suitable for faster promotion and/or to take on higher appointment, your bosses need to be able to evaluate your performance at a higher level. Sadly, not everyone gets the chance to take on work pieces that allow them to contribute at a higher level.

Has there ever been a case of a failed FHQ posting?
Meaning teacher was identified for FHQ posting but none of the interviewers for various branches found him/her suitable

Unlikely la.. if no suitable officer found during FHQ, the div will recruit via open posting anyway. Unless you damn jialat compared to general teacher pop, then maybe you should not have been identified for FHQ in first place. Side story: I used to have an a**h*** principal who would threaten me that FHQ is not guaranteed. Pfft.

I was recently told that I was invited for FHQ posting but was blocked by my P for manpower needs for one year. Could I ask if there is any advantage to going so early to hq but then not having to come out as a regular teacher or at most SH/LH. Or should. I continue in school longer, where I am recognized and secure a LH stint before the gq posting

Your question doesn't make any sense.

You can't go to HQ and "not come out" unless you are identified to be groomed for Specialist track advancement, or take up higher appointment within HQ immediately after your initial stint.

If you are GEO4 or above in your final year in HQ (2nd year for FHQ, 3rd year for Open/Closed Posting), you will be invited to seek a position in school via Enhanced Posting Support. This posting exercise is for KP roles in schools.

I still have no idea what you are trying to ask. Maybe you should brush up your English before going to HQ as you will be doing a lot of writing.

I think the original poster to hoping to be able to get a higher post, say HOD/Year Head instead of just SH/LH, after HQ stint.

Ah, I see. They completely lost me at "... not having to come out".

What's the rush though? I would argue that grinding out your years as a SH especially, can be useful in preparing you to excel in higher appointments. Not just "secure" the appointments, but actually do justice to the people you work for (including the people who report to you).

Rushing into higher appointment, for most people, is a disaster waiting to happen.

Do you guys find that Term 2’s workload is getting very heavy, with little time to rest on evenings and weekends?
