Need some advice. I've been holding coordinator role for 4 years. SLs & RO have been asking me to take up SH but I've been avoiding it cause not ready to carry the responsibility as well as dont really like doing the administrative work. I've received B grade for the last 3 years. Promoted to GEO4 in 2020. My questions are:

1) When should I expect to be promoted to GEO5?
2) Will taking up SH role make me get promoted faster?

You told them you are not ready to carry the responsibility of SH at this point. Why would the school then give you a high CEP? Even if they think your CEP is HOD or higher (meaning retiring at that role), they would adjust their expectations since you are turning down higher appointments offered.

Your promotion will be slower since HR will spread your promotion out, instead of letting you hit the max GEO5 early, with no further progression.

cep is what you COULD be at the near end of it, not you must be. not all ppl will hit their CEP if they dont work towards it

And how do they decide who gets appointed as School Leaders?
Throughout the forum, people kept saying HR decides, but how do they select?

farmer here, graduated from NIE in 2014, was in HQ in 2020 and 2021 as GEO4. Got B for both years but still a GEO4 haha. Grade is one thing, progression is another.
