Reading this forum and the reports of people being stuck for 6-8 years in GEO3 makes me very curious because the vast majority of GEO3s in my school get promoted in 3-4 years. Some even 2. And no they are not scholars, just regular teachers. It’s rare to have any past 5 years unless the officer went on NPL or had really bad consecutive perf grades.

I wonder what accounts for this variance between schools

The question is...when were those colleagues of yours promoted to GEO 4? In the past, 3-4 years was the norm. Now less so. For the organization it makes more sense to slow down promotion and focus on other methods of career progression given that there are only up to GEO 5 to promote a normal teacher to. If things continue to go like it did in the past, the organization will not only be top heavy but it will risk overpaying for little in return. If almost everyone is a GEO 4 or 5...must everyone of them have a level or school wide impact? If so, how? We can't possibly have 30 new initiatives a year.

I only joined my sch in 2019 so it’s not in the past, all are last few years or this year.

Maybe your colleagues always get A or B for their performance grade

I know that I have few to no bosses who stand up for me during ranking and this is probably one of the reasons why my performance has generally been average, even though I've taken up a few IC roles. It's sad that at the end of the day it's really not about the work you do but about whether you connect with the right people in the right way. I know it's probably like this, if not worse, in other jobs. It's just that in other jobs it probably makes more sense because the financial stakes are higher. Honestly I expected better from the teaching fraternity when I chose this path after a few years in the private sector. If any hopeful teacher is reading this, let this be a cautionary tale.
How many years have you been in service? How was your performance grades for the past few years? What’s your age? Have you hit your salary ceiling? All these factors will play a part in the promotion progression.

Wow...they must be overachievers? Performing above their KRA. Anyway I have seen 2 instances of male GEO 3 officers getting promoted 2 years later to GEO 4. So yes it is possible. And those officers contribute above their KRA - one willingly, the other forced into it. Unfortunately, the willing one suffered a burn out and had to take a 1 year break.

Male PGDE, with masters, 7 yrs in service, now GEO 5. I thought my career progression was already quite fast until I meet my RO who is a SEO 1 with 6yrs in service. She is a MOE scholar, really regret not taking MOE scholarship when I was younger as I don’t want to be tied down.

If my school promoted the 2018 GEO3s, then we are left with 4 GEO3s in the whole school, average year in service is 5 years. Two of them are quite outstanding too. The other two are thinking of quitting. Would there be a time when there are no more GEO3s in the school?

no recourse to appeal . hr afterall has decided. i had my C- some few years ago i think 2017 n i got promoted only last year to geo 5. spent a total of 9.5 years on geo 4 . this is despite me having a FCH.

Hi all. Anyone knows why the EMPLOYER'S CPF is deducted from the Connect Plan Amount but not deducted in our monthly pay and performance bonus?
