P called me to his office to inform me. He was holding a paper with a list of names on it.
Will we get any letter to formally inform us abt the promotion?

That's odd. Some 2018 geo 3 female teachers in my school were promoted this year. They from BA or PGDE. One of them is a pretty good performer.

Hello, I was promoted to GEO3 in 2019. Last year my colleagues who were promoted to GEO3 in 2019 already got promoted to GEO4. This year I'm still not promoted. Instead a junior colleague got promoted. This is very upsetting because I feel that I've definitely done more in my longer years of service. I know that I have few to no bosses who stand up for me during ranking and this is probably one of the reasons why my performance has generally been average, even though I've taken up a few IC roles. It's sad that at the end of the day it's really not about the work you do but about whether you connect with the right people in the right way. I know it's probably like this, if not worse, in other jobs. It's just that in other jobs it probably makes more sense because the financial stakes are higher. Honestly I expected better from the teaching fraternity when I chose this path after a few years in the private sector. If any hopeful teacher is reading this, let this be a cautionary tale.

I also 2018 GEO 3. My peers have been promoted to GEO 4 but I am yet to be promoted to GEO 4. All cos I have a C- back in 2020. Crucifixion indeed. 3 years of getting C's wont get me anywhere I guess. Or maybe I should appeal?

Unless big leadership renewal is coming to your school, then you need to change school. Seek out new leadership. I'm dead serious, otherwise you will be stuck under the panel that forever remembers you as the one who did whatever you did to get that C-.

Exactly. While changing school is more easily said than done, fast promotions are almost entirely dependent on whether the school's panel believes in it or not. On one hand you have schools in which there are extremely few GEO KPs, even though some may be very young. On another hand you may have a school with Hi-Po officers stuck on a 3-4 year promotion interval because the panel is super hardass about "default C after promotion" and other nonsense.
