Staff strength was 22, 10 years ago.

Of that original 22, only half are still around (STs and GEO5s).

There were more people who left compared to people joining.
Those who left were mostly the GEO3s and GEO4s.

Current headcount is 16, and this number includes a number of people who have not taught their CS2 for some time. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

School enrollment has remained the same.

spot on. you either ‘work hard’ early on in life (academics) or compete in a rat race later.
great ’path’ for those who have well-resourced family and able to access to the very best enrichment classes since young, and then off to ‘prestigious’ schools.

for the others who may not have the financial means to take piano lessons or attend montessori classes, ending up at neighbourhood schs isnt so bad actually. your childhood is probably more enjoyable than having to mug all day long. just be prepared for the rat race later on life.

outliers feel free to declare you were also deprived of head start in life but worked hard or was smart enough to ‘catch up’ unlike the ‘less motivated’ ones who couldnt, and you cant understand why they arent as lucky

Hi, not sure if this has been asked before. If a GEO4 is serving a HOD role, must he/she get through the GEO spectrum (i.e. GEO5/5A) before entering the SEO grades? Or is it possible to jump straight from GEO4 to SEO1? Thanks.

A confirmed HOD starting at GEO4 will go from GEO4 - GEO5 - SEO1 - SEO2. Wide portfolio HODs may also be at SEO3 estab. GEO5A is skipped.

Not possible to jump directly from GEO4 to SEO1. It will have to be done in two consecutive promotion exercises, at the quickest.

really? my GO colleagues also kpkb all the time and it is usually not about the teachers... only maybe the AM.

I am a beginning teacher. I’m quite shocked to hear that we don’t have enough permanent teachers in the school. We have about 25 FAJTs in our school. It’s like a quarter! What’s happening to our system? Are more and more teachers quitting and becoming FAJTs? Won’t be surprised if one day the percentage goes up to a good 50%. I check with my friend’s school, it’s the same situation. They come and go. Not healthy at all.

Pay is so low, even moonlight as tuition teacher also can earn more!

system wants to save money lol

most convenient way is to reduce labour

And please don't say that the private sector can do it. We all have friends and family working in the private sector. Cronyism, Nepotism, sleeping your way to the top is the norm

Same here in my school. Teachers leaving because of bad management. Nobody wants to apply to my school because of bad reputation. Only freshies come here.
FAJTs are in abundance. They make up for the numbers but its still not enough manpower. and FAJTs refused to set paper, already dont have CCAs/FT/committee. To put salt on wound, some were SEOs who now draw higher pay compared to current GEO3s.
