If work life balance is a important thing for you, SGX is not the place to join lah. Why not go for civil service or stat board?

i'm hoping for some work life balance (im currently with a public accounting firm) and nice colleagues. is there a lot of office politics to deal with?

i also heard that with the new management on board there has been a lot of staff movement, so that kind of worries me - if im not able to work with the finance head then life will be quite miserable.

i probably will consider the civil service if im really unable to achieve work life balance in the private sector.

are the hours at SGX really that bad, even for finance? it's not the listings or development department.

Hi, can anyone share about the work life balance in SGX?
Do they really work very late everyday?
Is it a good firm to join?

Default junior kid needs advise

hi currently am undergrad at fass. aft i entered uni, i realised that i wont be getting much skills other than write essay, do readings, draw demand-supply, indifference curves which i don't think i will use later on anyway, i wont even learn much software if i cant do honours safe for my econometric software (well i was kind of happy i get to tinker with something at least!)

i was interested in sgx at first because i thought may be related to my specialisation. but after a few years in uni, i realise i may not be suitable for it, im not from computing school so i dont have the IT skills (which after i research the job market opens more doors to banking actually).

so i was just wondering BA fresh grad to join a co like sgx, any chances?

i hope you dont see me as a passive person or someone who complains or dont see value in what i am learning, I see the value in my education yes, but that and getting a job is totally different. i am so worried i wont get a job after i did my research on job market.

also sorry if this is a wrong thread or what, dont really like to post things online but i think i need the honesty (brutal or otherwise) from the experienced people here.

and if you do help me out, i can't thank you enough.

Not much hope I think, they prefer business grads with finance majors or some sort of IT-Business joint program.

Since you studying economics in FASS, some sort of analyst or researcher job in a ministry or stat board will be more related to your study. SGX jobs are largely very niched Finance.
