Usually good MNCs doesnt accept fresh grad for FP&A and would prefer candidates with prior work experience.

Even they take you in, progression would usually be slower.
3 years+ in Audit give you more exposure and you can expect more higher salary when u job hop over to a MNCs compared to internal progression.

Nevertheless, working in Big 4 as a junior is a not easy road, prepared to sacifice your personal life and burn your weekends.

Anyway, when you are young, work hard...u will reap the fruit of labor later

So for a fresh graduate, if he/she has offer for both Big 4 audit and commercial (not MNC but a respectable size company) FP&A, it's recommended to choose the audit path first for faster career progression later on?

Depends lah. If it's like a Unilever or Johnson&Johnson they do accept fresh grads for their finance tracks. If you get offered just go for that.

Personally, i left Big 4 after making Mgr (5 yrs+). I know a lot of my SMs are really medicore but they just managed to rise to that rank by merely staying on where most leaves.
Agree. U just need to stay. Ppl are thinking too much.

Yes. It is more or less guaranteed that you farm to senior mgr in big 4 if you stayed on.
No need to be outstanding or what.

It takes only 8 years for a mediocre person to start earning $150K+ p.a.

Thereafter, work life balance improves for you and you get to have an army of young fresh grad to work for you and you probably can retire there too.

Of course, if you belong to elite group, then this is another story.

Not true at all. 8 years all within big 4 can barely crack 120k

Unilever finance track promotion is slow for fresh grad.
I am previously from Big 4 and left after 3years+
Thereafter, I joined there as a AM doing tax getting $5.2K+ basic pay.

My peer who started at Unilever after graduating was only a senior tax accountant getting $4.3K.

Basically, i am currently earning almost $1K more than her and have a better resume to speak of.
Of course, I sacrificed my earlier years working like a dog in big 4 to advance ahead of her.

My firm has revised its pay in 2022 to retain "talent".
With 2-3 month bonus as a SM, you can hit 150k per annum.
