Yes, workload well balanced with time for personal pursuits. No complaints from us. Wife and I both lecturers (different polys), combined income 250K (incl bonus). Lecturer many many years already. Having savings >50% of salary annually, preparing for comfortable retirement.

If you are not in PAX 3, impossible for you to earn $9k as a lecturer without including bonus. For PAX 4, max is 8.25k.

I am in PAX 3, but not principle lecturer, neither am I a Manager. Has been in this scale before the salary structure changed...

Then you are very fortunate to be in PAX 3 without managerial appointment. Many of us do envy you for drawing that salary!

How about administrative staff in a polytechnic? Is it also very difficult to reach PAX3?

Actually not true. As you get into your 40s on the outside, you get into managerial positions and the grunt work stops. You do more client facing activities etc and it actually gets easier.
