Joint Polytechnic & ITE Salary Review
Our Director emailed this yesterday in response to the recent announcement by MOE on the salary revision for staff appointed on the Education Scheme of Service (EDUN) and the Allied Educator Scheme (AES).
"the Salary Review Committee for the 5 Polys & ITE has submitted its recommendation to MOE in Jun 2012. We are still awaiting for the Ministry’s approval."

i have a doctorate and a couple of years' (~2-3) experience in academia in top US university. If i were to apply for a lecturer job in one of the polys... which job role / pay scale should I belong to? Would fresh applicants get to choose between purely teaching / teaching+managerial roles or are these only assigned by upper level managements after some time? TIA!!

I have roughly the same credentials as you but had substantially more teaching experience when I applied several years ago. You should be at least PAX 5, possibly PAX 6 if you have other experiences to include, especially relevant industry involvement.

you are better off with the university. local poly DO NOT NEED and DO NOT PAY for your phd. it is good to have, BUT not NECC. hence, looking at your 2 yrs experience, you will be placed in very junior position, you can get S$4000 can laugh liao. better join ASTAR or universities.

Hi, need the forumers advise on this:
- am mid 30s, local born
- BA from foreign U,
- have been working in media industry for 10+years,
- have been teaching media part time at poly and private schools for 2 years.
Poly paying 80/hr but only call me up as and when. Now have chance to take on fulltime but not sure what kind of salary scale I can get. Any idea?

Don't expect much... wuthout a postgraduate degree, I don't think you have much negotiating power.
At the most, you'd place on PAX5A ($3470 - $6240)...
