Yeah 3 Bs is such a good grade. I have 3 Cs in a row doing the work of 2 and a half people people. Not counting the default C's. My director still has the cheek to tell me that C is a good grade and tell me next year see again. I have been strung along for 3 years hahaha. Only the scholars and associates get B and C+. That's HTX for you I guess!

Notification for promotion
Would you be notified of promotion way earlier before actually receiving it? Meaning your boss or your RO speak to you last year that they are going to push you for promotion?
Or will it not be discussed?
I would think the RO/boss would inform their intentions earlier though, but I dunno because I have never encounter this scenario; any one has experience in this?

You should be able to get a sense of things. It would have been brought up if it is in the pipeline for you.

Depending your agency or unit having dept promotion ceremony on which month then roughly 1.5months earlier the list will be out to inform you officially or your immediate superior called you in to inform you about your promotion etc.
Push is one thing, got it or not is another thing.

Technically, C is counted as GOOD. B is VERY GOOD. A=Excellent/Exceptional. Your boss said correctly but mostly how staff perceived as subpar grade. In fact, is a default grade, either we have not done any portfolio more than current one etc. Also, the quota assigned to higher grade might be used up and left behind the C/C+

Is the promotion update by superior usually with PB or earlier?

Didn't know B can get such a high quantum. In some ministries to get such quantum need to get A grade.
