Sorry new to this forum. Didn't know trade finance counts as "high finance" and thought OP was referring to S&T.

Happy now?

I don't even think you know what is S&T. So that's alot of advice for something you have zero idea. Try to tidy up what you want to blurt about before going for your IBD interviews

The hours are definitely shorter but calling it boring is overkill. Career path is definitely not as smooth as staying in IBD due to lesser seats these days. You could always take a MBA if you want a more traditional exit option but being in S&T generally means you are more of a risk-taker. Generally, heard that the more senior in the industry would try to negotiate with buy-side for a cut of the P/L they generate rather than a good base and variable like IBD.

Would not recommend S&T if you want job stability, having "fun" in the sense of staying in the office till 2-3am and want a "steady" exit option
Your typical smarta5ses. Bro if you work in PwC, please don't talk as if you know about high finance.

Trade financing is about extending loan for importers/exporters to reduce working capital burden. It doesn't pay that well as it is more similar in nature to corp banking.

You must work in KKR/Apollo/Barings then, seeing you know finance knowledge that you think I don't even know.

Again I reiterate that I didn't know trade financing belongs to "high finance" thread in SG, please spare me from your roasting

Which asset class? Sales EQ is important, so good to learn to be less snarky about things.

Not meaningful to attribute your incorrect sharing to trade finance =/= high finance. Also don't need to be in Apollo to know things. I knew that in my grad days.

I do agree that the question could have been in a thread about banking / MA given the origin intent of this thread is about PE / VC and etc. But if the question is asked in wrong place, then so be it. The simple premise of giving advice, should be to give advice that is helpful. I won't even comment on career trajectory of trade finance, sales, trading simply because I do not know what to say.

And honestly? Being in sales, you should have known trade finance =/= trading. If your client approached you to get access to the trade finance team for solutions or general FAQs, it would look pretty bad on you to link to the wrong team.
