Mentioning about the "gap" in original expextation for the role versa the actual, did anyone encountered situations that no training was given at all, and you are immediately thrown into the job and expected to reply questions for the job?

Like what I have mentioned in my original post, I have made it explicitly clear in both verbal and written format about my complete lack of experience in a particular skillset and did highlighted my request during interview on the availability of on job training to get familiar with the process of the organisation and the tools used... Unfortunately none of that was provided.
This is getting abit crazy as I am now expected to answer questions on job even though I am completely clueless about the process and tools.

By the way, responding to some of the earlier replies, no this is not my first job, have been in the workforce for many years. But this is the first time I have encountered such a "messed up" newcomer's on boarding.

In short, I just felt they have hired the wrong person (probably because they couldn't find anyone).
Your reporting officer or colleagues in the same dept able to teach you?

I have work in a few jobs and regardless of whether it is a job which I have experience in already, I still have ppl to guide me in at least the first week of work.

Exactly! I thought even with experience, the operations from one company differ from another, some form of on job training will be necessary. And now I have to even prepare for follow up presentation on a presentation that I have never attended.

Anyway, no one can help, as it is a newly setup unit, the work information was all over the place either some in scattered written form, some inside the heads of people, or some floating in the air as verbal bubbles (that is, no records).

I don't know if I am being unreasonable or is because I have not seen the world enough. I was just expecting for at least a proper on job training for proper handover and job takeon. Am I expecting too much? Or is it not uncommon for company to be like this, as in "expect you to know the work withour training"?

Need some advice
I am currently 5months into a new job in civil service, but i dont like the role
I am going to have my mid year performance review session with my Dir soon. Im not sure which is the best decision to take

1.) ask for secondment opportunities? Is it possible to rotate into a new role before the 1year emplacement mark? Has anyone done it before?
2.) don’t mention anything about my intention to move. Instead, resign and find another role myself elsewhere

Which option above is the wisest to take?
Any advice will be appreciated
