This stupid bank has a stupid pay structure. No matter which dept you are from, be it IB or Ops, if you are joining as a fresh grad (aka associate), there is a salary ceiling based on your GPA. So a FCH in ops can earn more than a second upper in IB. If im not mistaken, the current FCH ceiling for associate is 3.6k (unless u are from the grad program).

If you have no prior FULL TIME work experience (btw traineeship is not considered), you will only be considered for associate rank.

So the bank pay structure is based on GPA and not the division you're in? How does that even make sense?

Exactly! Its based on your class of honors, to be precise. You ask the HR lor.. dont know wtf they thinking. Really stupid! How will you feel if you are in FO/IB? Earning the same as cost centres (or even lesser)! No wonder turnover rates are high. Of course, this is based on monthly salary. Bonus is another question, but dont expect the bonus to be “significantly different” as well..

But do they accept people of lower or no honours into FO/IB in the first place?

Hey man, I'm in a similar boat to you as well. I took a traineeship and eventually have been converted and my salary has nearly doubled from the $2500. Honestly, the traineeship is a great way to gain relevant skills and build longer term opportunities. People just need to seize them.
