8k means you're probably ard MX 11A if you're at a ministry.

given that you have no hons. that would also imply that your CEP is probably capped at around MX10 or so.

Progression time norm for someone like yourself would probably be around 5 years iirc.

so you'd probably have another 1-2 yrs to go before you are considered for promotion

The TS is facing a simple problem. She mentioned she likes her current CS jobs but gets little to no promotion / pay. And she mentioned that she has offer(/s) from private sector which let's presumes pay more.

Simple problem.
If she wants stable income in a job you like, stay.
If she wants to advance up the ranks in pay and promotion, leave for private sector.

She, and like many Singaporeans, have a attitude that their employer owes them X if they do Y. I'm very thankful for my stable progress and pay, but never once did I forget that my employer can cut me at ANYTIME.

It is the employee's responsibility to react to what market says, not the employer's. Once she does, make a choice. Follow the market which priced you better in the form of private, or accept that CS is like that. Never expect anything.

Default Promotion in cs

I wonder how does promotion works in civil service.

Have been getting C for a consecutive last 3 years... But my peers who have been getting C is promoting faster than me...

My cep is also raised as confirmed by my boss. Current post in the dept is a div 1 position and they posted me (div 2) officer there cos my boss said he saw my potential... And that my cep has been raised (most likely to a div 1)

Wonder what went wrong.....

I meant I have been getting B for the last 3 years. Not C

your salary is too high as govt jobs is a cost centre, it should be half the amount instead, foreign talents doing the same thing in cost centres would have cost even less, and work harder

Just wondering about the Civil Service - in the Ministries, do promotions only occur in April? If not, when is the next round of promotions in the yearly cycle?

Yes only in Apr.

I believe there are exceptions to this. Yes the majority of promotions are in Apr, but there are also staff promoted throughout the year (probably due to reasons such as a need in the dept)

is it possible for a new hire to be promoted in 2 years? Just joined from private sector and not a scholar. Degree without honours as well
