Not from govtech so not really impacted.
But being public sector don't they need to account to the taxpayers?
1. Why take in people when previous company let them go because it's unsustainable
2. Why do some have their interview allegedly waived, where is the accountability that they are that good?
3. Why create a alleged new department when they have no actual scope of work yet
4. Indeed isn't even that good, why not hire from MANGA instead?
5. Ultimately why isn't any announcements made and it's so hush hush
From an external perspective it does look like the intent is to hire quietly, then sweep this incident under the carpet

Why would anyone who can land a MANGA equivalent offer bother with Govtech? These ex-Indeed are probably the leftovers who cannot.

Precisely. All unanswered questions.
Management has no obligation to inform employees but it's good optics to do so.
Management definitely needs to justify the mass hire to the Board of Directors. Since GovTech is a stat board under PMO, they also need to account to the PMO. Budget is from public money.

weak arguments
a weak argument for calling it "opportunistic hiring" of talents. without a clear strategy, talents become a liability not to mention the massive costs. as a public sector organization, there is a lot of accountability needed for such actions.
tech companies are retrenching staff every few months, so what are the criteria for selecting which companies' staff to acquire? investigations should bbe conducted by a private sector entity to prevent obstruction of justice.
