10 k is achievable, but only at the management level. You have to put in your time, get some experience and prove yourself. You can't expect 6 figures just after you graduate.

Manufacturing Certification

Get into in MNC, must be either oil and gas, pharmaceutical, bioscience. They can pay big money to the expats. My procurement big boss is about USD 30k per month, other managers get about S$20. Supervisors get ~$12k onwards. Junior type of senior exec get $5k onwards. For logistic dept, if u r willing to travel, work long hours. It should be good.

Getting to the industry and field is one thing. But not all capable people get to the top. Rewards are never always given fairly.
Know the right people, have the right people to like you is the key.

Supply chain is really broad, what I learnt at school in terms of supply chain is hardly relevant in my job now. I think data analysis skills and operational experience plus commercial feel are the most impt. Anybody care to disagree?

Smile job hunting

Hihi,
I am quite new to writing in forums, but would like to reach out and find other people who might be in a situation that is similar to mine. I am currently a university graduate with a specialization in supply chain from one of the local Singapore universities, and am currently seeking for a job. I have been job hunting for a couple of months, and had gone to a few interviews, but I have not heard back from any company so far.

I guess what I would like to know is if anyone has any tips to share for job seekers? And especially for those looking to find a job in supply chain but who do not have any prior job experience or internship in that area. I will also be more than happy to share some of the tips that had helped me thus far.

Thank you.

Yeah, we're girls but then, occasionally guys do make it to our team

I work in logistics, engine grad + SCM spec. and worked in aerospace procurement for a bit.

Qualities they look out for is being analytical/logical, ablility to think on your feet and very good with numbers (esp. financials).
Of course you can theorize your SCM knowledge (Econ. of scale, EOQ, JIT, bla bla.) and they might take the bait. Depends on the industry and function.
Also, being able to talk to articulate high level people (and laugh at their lousy jokes) and lower level blue collar types, will help a lot.

Apply for an operations function, meaning those jobs which let you deal with the inventory day-in-day-out, slog it out and learn like hell for a few years when you're young.
It will steer you towards a well-rounded thinking, as operations is the backbone of logistics.
