It is frustrating. Tell you why.

For those who booked their cars already, most likely the COE rebate is pegged at $55K or less. So even at present COE of $57K, you wont get any discount from your dealer.

For those wishing to enter now, the dealer cannot guarantee you the COE at $57k or lower for the next few biddings. They will probably set the new COE rebate at $50k or lower. After CNY, the COE will likely creep up again. Then after a few rounds of bidding, the dealer will tell you to top up if not, they let the contract lapse after 6 biddings.

The above is my experience. And it is with a established dealer for a top brand car. End up I lost 2 precious months waiting and in between had to scrap my 10 yr old car. No car for a while. Damn frustrating.

My car dealer friend says wait til July where COE supply is to be doubled from current level.

ya man. my colleagues also say so. All of us in the company are waiting patiently for it to drop to $30k before we will go in to buy.

I got my CatB Car recently with Coe $76k.
Within 1 month, it's value drop by $10k - evaporated just like that.
I am even worried that it will drop another $20k with the tsunami of COE Upcoming.

I should Not have listened to the car salesman in this forum.

Why does anyone want to be saddled with an expensive depreciating asset?

Those who have to take big loans to buy car, should not be buying. If everyone follows this simple rule, then the roads will be less congested and more enjoyable to drive.

But the situation now is that if you don't own a car you lose face. Lose face to relatives, colleagues and neighbors. Very sad. Used to be that owning a car was a status symbol, now owning a car is just to keep pace with others. So in order to be a little ahead of others, many are owning 2 cars. This is giving people like me who are in condo MCSTs a big headache in allocating limited carpark lots.

I have a resident who purposely bought a second car to chop a lot. He seldom drive that BM coupe, driving only on weekends. He did it just because another resident has 2 cars and was asking for the extra lots. Some more our condo is right next to an MRT station!

I don't know about the situation in HDB car parks, but I can only guess it will be just as bad.
