This is exciting. My wife and I will be getting our annual bonuses soon. Will keep the bonuses until the COE drops to $30k. We can then buy our dream luxury car, to be paid in full using this bonuses. No loan required.

Like car, no need to buy. Just use taxi, rent, car pool etc.

Why does anyone want to be saddled with an expensive depreciating asset?
Intellectually, I agree with you.
Emotionally, I love BMW

I can only afford a Japanese car. Went to visit Borneo yesterday, Altis going for $99,999 with COE in mid $50k's.. thats in the good direction. I will wait for COE to drop to $30k. Which means I can buy a new Altis for around $70k! It's a massive savings compared to my friend who bought at $120k. Look forward to middle of the year when this happens!

Happy CNY to all bros and keep cool. Don't lose temper with the sliding COE premiums.

I'll buy a new car if Cat A COE hit $40k. Honestly, I don't think it will ever reach $30k again. Many people are getting their annual bonuses soon. They will surely buy now.

Seriously why is everyone expecting the COE premium to plunge this year? It will cause many negative impact if they allow it to swing from $90k to $40k within span of 2 years. It will cause another spiral of deregistration of high COE and we will end up Dejavu in the drought years again. I am sure our smart ministars won't be making the same mistake twice, for which if they do, they cannot claim they don't have 20/20 foresight again!!

The supply of COEs must be managed so that we don't have large fluctuations in COE prices. Those who got their COEs at $90k in 2013 will not be happy if it drop to $30k.

Haha. Many will be disappointed. COE prices will swing back up next bidding. However, I hope COE prices will drop, not because of huge supply, but because people wise up and refrain from buying cars. The roads are terribly congested and car parks are full.

MCSTs are scratching their heads allocating lots to owners with multiple cars, roads in private estates are clogged up reducing 2 lanes to single lanes.

Don't know about HDB car parks, but I can imagine it is also bad. Long long ago when I was staying in HDB, I was allocated a lot far away in another block for my family's second car.
