If want to stretched abit ore can sell Condo buy resale HDB. Unless you enjoy the facilities alot at the Condo and uses it, otherwise it is kinda "wasteful" to spend on Condo fees monthly. Technically we don't need security guard in SG, it is safe here.

I have not been writing to this forum for many years now. Think my last "contribution" was in 2012? Time really flies, as it felt like not too long ago that I wrote something here.

The past 6 to 7 years have been good to my family and I - both health and financial well being.

Children graduated and entering the workforce have seen our financial commitments diminished substantially while savings accelerated. We have no housing loan since we paid for our condo (bought in 2008) in full.

In the last 6 to almost 7 years, we have seen our networth grew by $2.5M bringing our total networth to $7.25M! Something that we never dreamed of.

Will it grow some more? If we continue to work and our investment continues to perform as it did the last few years, then hitting $8M networth looks within reach by 2020!

Just to share an update of my financial situation:

Age: 44, 42
Work: both STILL in financial industry, STILL in a support function (so not your banker, salesperson, trader etc)
Total income: $760K, $250K
Residence: Leasehold terrace, our home for last 3.5 years. STILL holds a 5rm HDB, our first property and lived there for 14 years till 2015.
Car: New Conti ride.
Income tax for FY2018: $115K, $11K (wife's tax bill significantly increased from 2014 cos of $80k cap on reliefs).
Savings: $3.6m (adding around $650K per year not counting investment returns, as I mentioned we save 45% of MONTHLY income plus whatever is left over from spending the bonus)
Networth: $7.3m at end 2018.

Depends a lot on your role and the demand.

Iirc last year fresh grads who can pull their open weight in software were getting 5 to 6k a month. Second year you could ask for 5.3 to 6.5 ish depending on your value and your worth to the company.

The average Dev should be looking at 4 to 4.5 a month, maybe a 5 to 10% increase for the second year

If you think about the senior level support functions in a bank for example (I'm not saying I'm working for a bank), the CFO, Chief Risk Officer or Chief Operating Officer, would be able to get you that level of salaries. My wifey is a VP also in a support function. While her salary is not low by any means, you can see the wide disparity between our salaries due to the nature of the function and seniority in the organisations we work for.

What's the point of this? Like feeding ego of the rich maybe.
A lot of pp prolly are just faking it. most rich will post to feed their ego (and proceed to write some humble statements), while only a small percentage might be real.

80k/yr.

Having said that, I know of people earning lesser but living such a happy and contented life. I was happy with life when I juggled study and work, while earning 2.xk a month. I am happy with life now that I'm earning this amount. I might be miserable when I earn 200k a mth in future.

I believe happiness is a mindset and what you choose to focus on in life.

Who knows what may happen tmr.
