Lmao consulting, the most useless profession in the world. Just ahead of property agents and insurance agents. 🤡🤡🤡

These days very easy to hit 10/k mth in the financial industry seems like the norm.
Yes, my peers at late twenties are hitting about $10k per month. The lowest I know is getting about $8k per month

Fully retired couple, 58M, 59F. Middle class family. Collected our CPF. 5 room HDB flat fully paid up. Renovated our flat into a beautiful retirement home. Enjoying our retirement. Leading a healthier life with regular morning exercises at the park and relaxing breakfasts. No morning rush. More time with family and friends, reading and watching movies. Also do volunteer work to help poor and needy families.

Our cash savings (including CPF collected) $400k which we will draw down slowly for our retirement expenses ($40k pa) until 65. Will receive $5k pm from CPF Life and stocks, REITs dividends at 65. Children contribute $1k pm. Our combined passive income at 65 and beyond $6k pm or $72k pa. Life is now more relaxed. We are a lot more happier after retirement. We are very lucky. Many people still have to work at our age. Some still have mortgages outstanding.

Our secret to our financial success
Spend less than you earn
Minimise debt and clear debt as soon as possible
Lead a debt free life as soon as possible
Invest savings in CPF, stocks and REITs
Need to plan for retirement early
Don’t drink and smoke. Cost a lot of money down the drain and make us unhealthy
Don’t gamble
Keep healthy to enjoy retirement
Be determined to retire early. Our retirement target age was 60 but managed to retire earlier

Before I graduated from sim, I always thought local uni students would be earning a lot more than me. After I graduated, my first year income was already 120k, which was a lot higher than most local uni graduates. In my 2nd year, I worked a lot harder than managed to hit 200k. This was something I could never achieve if I went to local unis

I have retired from full time employment in the corporate world. This is possible because I have achieved these milestones.

- My condominium unit and car are fully paid
- I have sufficient cash and CPF savings for me to spend from 55 to 65 years old
- I can afford the CPF Life Enhanced Retirement Sum
- I am debt free
- I pay my credit card bills in full every month
- I can afford holidays every 6 months

I am able to devote my time in pursuing my hobbies and passion as well as giving back to society. Retiring at 55 is now becoming more common especially for those who have done well in their careers. There is no need to work any longer just to afford a more expensive home or car. I wouldn’t want to work another 10 years so that I can buy a bungalow. A condominium unit would suffice for my retirement lifestyle.
