Health is wealth. You won’t bring all your money to the grave. Enjoy your life. So you should stop working and get your health back. Downgrading to a small HDB flat is no problem. So many people live in HDB flat. 80% of population live in HDB flats. You don’t want your health to be worse. Be healthy and happy. You have already achieved a lot in life.

LOL you ok?
4M in savings, 5M property at 55 years old.
Continue working for what exactly? You trying to get a Lambo or something? You have kids?
Need more context to determine whether you're a delusional typical sinkie dumb fk rat-race slave or a family man who cares about the future of his kids.

i've seen some older folks say that kind of thing. cringe but maybe lacking in vocab to convey that in a more nuanced manner

I'd retire at 40 with that. But doesn't mean I don't do anything after. I'll manage my investments and build passive streams of income, own time own target.

Thanks guys for the reply. I'm the 55 years old uncle with a small 5m landed. Both my kids are working after graduating from nus. It is very boring for me to retire at 55. I own a small business with about 100+ employees. I work office hours mainly, hardly work on weekends or after 6pm on weekdays. I'll probably pay either two condos, each for my kids, or another landed under my wife's name. What's a better option?

I am a middle class, average person who has been a salaried worker all my life. I am tired. I plan to retire next year when I reach 55
Here’s my plan when I reach 55
A. Set aside $309k for CPF Life ERS
B. Collect balance of $150k from my CPF OA
C. Sell my condo (fully paid) for $1 mil
D. Buy a 4 room HDB flat for $500k, pay in full
F. Sell my car
G. Simple retirement lifestyle
Total cash after above transactions $650k Retirement spending $30k pa or $300k from 55 to 65.
At 65, I will get $2500 pm from CPF Life until I die.

dunno why so many old age already dont wanna step down (referring to those high and up there ppl, not those trying to make a living in life), and re-prioritise the life. in life, there are more meaningful things to do, rather than chasing for power and money. some (like my parent) died when they are 60+, or when at work, this is literally work until died. its really a sad scenario. god gave us life.. we should know when to stop, and enjoy something we really like to do at toward the end of our life..
