- I can afford the CPF Life Enhanced Retirement Sum
- I am debt free
- I pay my credit card bills in full every month
- I can afford holidays every 6 months
I am able to devote my time in pursuing my hobbies and passion as well as giving back to society. Retiring at 55 is now becoming more common especially for those who have done well in their careers. There is no need to work any longer just to afford a more expensive home or car. I wouldn’t want to work another 10 years so that I can buy a bungalow. A condominium unit would suffice for my retirement lifestyle.

You have made the right choice to retire at 55. There is no need to aspire owning a landed property here. 80% live in public housing. You still live in a private property after retirement and you can still afford a car. You have achieved much success. Don’t care what people tell you especially friends and family members. I retired at 44 after selling my landed property and downsizing to a condo. Best decision in my life.

You’re doing ok for the average performer. You should be able to retire when you reach 65 after paying off your mortgage and saving in your CPF Life.

Retiring at 55 is no big deal. The really successful ones retired in their 40s. These are usually investment bankers. Lawyers and doctors cannot retire so early.
