The more time u spend in wards the better ur clinical skills are.

Dukies spend v little time.

While they are not good clinically, they definitely are better at research.
The average dukie publish far more.

Everybody has their strengths. We shouldnt compare too much

My experience is lkc students are the best clinically for ho and mo.
Then yllsom.
Then img
Then dukies.

However this is representative of the prototypical student i see in wards and the ones i took for tutorials

Im pretty sure there are star dukie students who has clinical skills and common sense

In that case the dukies likely end up more in NUH. Also likely to occupy leadership positions given the publishing rate. Stay in public sector more too?

My impression is that they mostly become GPs

What schools are you referring to? The list of recognized overseas schools have been revised. The IMG representation in training is surprisingly high, have a look at the current trainees even in competitive residencies and you’ll notice quite a fair bit of them are overseas trained.

European schools like Germany, Sweden...i see they are still on the list of recognised schools. Do singaporeans actually go there?

Currently deciding between going to med sch or going for a top business program. How many of you, with your current knowledge and experience of being a doctor, would not mind doing it again? Or would you rather pursue something else other than medicine?

If you’re in it for the money you should reconsider. It takes quite a lot of sacrifice to earn a great salary. However, it is a comfortable job if you foresee yourself being mediocre in whatever profession/career you choose to do. The average MBBS holder earns a comfortable salary doing a secure routine job after the initial training years.

Go for the financial/business programs. I'll explain why.
with the financial and business stuff you can apply the same knowledge both at work and in your personal life. Also when you do work for say a bank that trains you eg trading/financial literacy, loans and mortgages etc you can apply that knowledge for your own finances.
Whereas with medicine you cannot. You are not allowed to ethically treat yourself or your family members. The knowledge and training you have is purely for use at work with strangers. You can treat friends but be careful, one complaint and SMC will whack you. So why spend so many years study and train and can only treat strangers? Not like the money is fantastic either.
Do something that has more real impact on your life as a whole.
