Some FDs will see a large number of referrals from other physicians. Referral consults pay very well. About $124 per patient. You can do the math. 3 patients an hour $372. 5 hours a day $1860. 4 days a week $7440. 1 month $29,760. 11 months (1 month for holiday) - $327,360. And of course they can still have a small panel of family practice patients to add to this.

You can search Alberta Fee Navigator.

SKLL GP Replace Base $124.25
Alberta Medical Association Fee Navigator

code : 03.08A

Family physicians can be consulted. Other drs can refer patients to family physicians for certain issues.

Other things like women's health, gynecological. Pelvic Floor Clinic. Mental health is another big one.

As long as referred by another physician it is a consult can bill 03.08A $124.25

When another GP refers to GP-OB for antenatals/Women's health, can you bill this code?

Because I saw that SKLL OBGY is only $92.55.

GP-OB is for OBGYN specialist to bill.

If GP refers to a GP who has special interest in Obstetrics they bill the GP code ie $124.25

There is also time modifier CMXC30. If consult goes over 30 min add $31.43

SKLL is for Skill

Codes like ANES is for anaesthesia, E/M is for Emergency etc

I have a friend who joined rmg. Get paid around 12k. No gdfm/mmed yet (he is still doing gdfm course)
Think that is higher than a ops family physician with mmed? (Plus you can locum as well)

It's interesting that a GP can bill more than an OBGYN for the same consult in AB.

From what I can see while working as a mo, we have too many doctors, to the extent that career progression is no longer gauranteed.

There was a time when there was a shortage of specialists in unpopular not so lucrative specialties like nephrology and geriatrics.

MOH allowed recruitment of IMGs.

That poster is obviously non-Singaporean FT la, trying to steal our rice bowls which by the way is no longer iron. If it is to accommodate fellow Singaporean sons and daughters who studied abroad I can understand, but to open the floodgates to IMGs is too much.
