That is before tax. After tax only 100k

Any family physicians here? Can shed light on the salary for those working in the polyclinics as well as a private GP. What are the locum rates as well? Can state your credentials(e.g. GDFM, MMed etc.) and job title with the salary you are drawing will be good

Where did you get that he was making 300-400k working only 23 hours per week?

Most full-time family MDs work around 40 hours per week (8 - 5pm, includes 1-2h lunch break/catch up on notes/lab reports).

300-400k is also pre-overhead and pre-taxes, which will leave them around 175k after tax. This translates to around 15k per month, which is not an exaggeration.

Monetary rewards aside, I can say for certain that my quality of life in Canada is significantly better than SG. I get my evenings and weekends to spend time with family. Although I don't get "performance bonus", I also don't have to "prove" my abilities to anyone other than myself.

Only thing I miss from SG is my friends and the food.

Family Physicians in Canada are quite flexible in that they can "specialize" in certain fields. There are competency certificates in elder care, emergency medicine, obstetrics, sports medicine, chronic pain, interventional pain management

Some FDs will see a large number of referrals from other physicians. Referral consults pay very well. About $124 per patient. You can do the math. 3 patients an hour $372. 5 hours a day $1860. 4 days a week $7440. 1 month $29,760. 11 months (1 month for holiday) - $327,360. And of course they can still have a small panel of family practice patients to add to this.
