How is life as a doctor in Singapore?

You’re already rich to begin with to go overseas for med

It is like a Singaporean saying they are MMed and want to move abroad.
Same issues.
If you really need to move maybe write to the hospital department heads and ask if they want you.
Mostly for personal reasons like family/domestic support (especially with raising kids), safety, good schools, phenomenal food scene, excellent public transport and walkability etc. We are not big spenders nor aiming to become the next Jeff Bezos, so finances are secondary as long as its comparable relative to the COL.

May I ask why you insinuate that I am crazy for even considering a move to SG?

Politics aside, SG seems like a first world country with amenities that are often lacking in the rest of the world. But, I may be seeing SG through rose-tinted glasses, so please share the dark side of SG that I may not be considering.

I assume MMed is a prestigious degree? I am trained under a different system which doesn't offer this so I have no clue -- either board-certified or non-board-certified.

I grew up in SG and left after O'levels, so I am familiar with the industrious nature of Singaporeans. However, I have never experienced the working life in SG.

Speaking with my parents and friends, it seems like the work culture emphasizes more on seniority rather than actual accomplishments. But they could be wrong.

Do most outpatient physicians work 5.5 days a week?

It's an anonymous forum, I really couldn't care less to brag to strangers...

Just trying to obtain more informal information on the side before I reach out to the HR departments in hospitals who may have other interests.

Where did you train? North America?

Sounds like Singapore is the best place for you. I hope you move back to Singapore.

Singapore rewards hard work and accomplishments.

Most outpatient physicians work 5 days a week or less.

There is very good work life balance in Singapore and many opportunities for investment outside of work.

You will not go wrong if you go to Singapore. Your kids will also thank you for providing them with a world class education and very safe and fulfilling childhood. Singapore is the best country in the world to raise children.
